I have an account set up as a tax deferred account but it should be a ROTH IRA account. Is there any way to change the type of account without recreating the entire account

You should be able to edit the Account and under the General tab click the button next to "No" on the line "Tax deferred."

While editing the account details to unset the tax deferred status will change the account to not be a tax deferred account, it will not make the account a Roth account.
If you are wanting to have the account treated as a Roth in the Lifetime Planner, you'll have to create a new account to get the proper Roth settings and tax treatment for distributions.
