Hello @jkthiry
If you will, please provide a bit more information so that we might be better able to help you.
What year/version/build are you using in Quicken? (Help > About Quicken).
What, exactly, does the error message say?
Are you trying to save the backup to the default file pathway, or to an external hard drive, or have you adjusted the file pathway to save to some other place on your computer?
Please give us some additional information in order to better help you.-1 -
When Quicken performs a backup it closes the Quicken file momentarily. When Quicken attempts to reopen the Quicken file, you will receive the error you posted if another program has the Quicken file open.
If you aren't already, I suggest you access the Quicken file in a folder on an internal drive using a short (8.3) name (for example, QData.QDF). Do not allow other programs to access the Quicken file while it is open in Quicken (for example, OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, MegaSync).
