Called CC - they blame Quicken. Called Quicken - they blame Synchrony. I just want to be able to "Export" transactions from TJX CC and Import into Quicken...

I have run into the same issue when downloading Synchrony Mastercard transactions from the Synchrony website. Fortunately I had a copy of one of the previously downloaded Transaction.qfx files that was imported into Quicken successfully. When comparing it with the currently generated file that can't be imported I found the root cause. Here's how to fix the QFX file:
1. Open Transaction.QFX in Notepad
2. Press Ctrl-F and search for "DTSTART"
3. You should see the following two strings:
<DTSTART>R
<DTEND>R
4. Replace "R" in each line with the start and end dates of the imported transactions in YYYYMMDD format. You can get these dates by analyzing the "DTPOSTED" lines in the transaction list. For example:
<DTSTART>20200901
<DTEND>20200923
5. Close and save the file. Try to import it again
This little hack worked for me, hope it can help someone else.
Now, if you only it was possible to somehow reach the Synchrony IT team and let them know that they broke the QFX export again...

Great job,
@nycaleksey
!! [removed-disruptive/violation of Community Guidelines] This is the smoking gun that everyone has been looking for. It's clearly the Bank's issue, but it would help if Quicken could communicate this on a tech support to tech support level. [removed-speculation] Please help us out here!

Since my last PayPal Mastercard (Synchrony Bank) statement closed, I have been getting consistent OL 221-A or 221-B error messages when attempting to open downloaded transaction files, which Quicken says it at the bank end. Synchrony support (which will not connect me to tech support specialists) say they do not "support" Quicken downloads. What to do?
The Synchrony Tech Support number is 866-571-3014. The workaround, until they fix it, is to deactivate the account in the Account List, then, re-add the account. This is working consistently for me. It will download all transactions since it stopped working, so, if you have done it several times, you may have to, then, delete some of the transactions you have previously downloaded.

Just used your work around on two accounts. Happy to say it worked like a charm. Think I'll contact Synchrony Bank to tell them what the problem is.
A big Thank You!

By all means contact Synchrony Bank, but good luck getting anything other than a low-level call center person like I interacted with a couple of days ago. Far more likely to produce real results would be to have
@Quicken
Anja ratchet this up the totem pole to have a corporate to corporate tech support contact between Quicken and Synchrony. [removed-speculation]

If that's true, why would they prefer to lose customers to fixing what seems to be a very simple problem? They've had quite a bit of time to do so. I, for one, am giving them only to the end of this month, before I stop patronizing their bank.

It's still not working for my PayPal Mastercard account at Synchrony Bank. I'm still getting the OL-221 error.

Same here, does not work yet for PayPal MC.

Thank you, nycaleksey! The DTSTART/DTEND 'fix' addressed the issue.
Quicken support: Have you considered providing users the ability to change the URL for Synchrony Bank to point to the store website:
https://lowes.syf.com/login/
instead synchrony.com.
I hope a reasonable solution can be found quickly.

I just tried it now and it worked for my Sam's Club Mastercard. Took too long to straighten out a simple fix, but better late than never!

For the past two weeks when I download transactions from Synchrony Mastercard for Sam's Club I get the following error from Quicken when I try to open the file:
Quicken is unable to complete your request.[OL-221-A]
[OL-221-B]
Any suggestions?

Synchronicity Credit Cards include Amazon Prime, LOWES, PAYPAL and so on. I created each file from the bank's website, but Quicken will not import it. Started having this problem about a week ago. Any suggestions ?

I had this same issue and had for a couple of weeks. Deactivating did not resolve the problem. So, I then set up the download process from within Quicken (Express Web Connect, Note set Financial Institution: Sam's Personal Credit Accou). That worked, although Quicken did not provide a link for me to connect to my existing account, so I had to create a new account for the Express Web Connect download.
The new process worked well for a few weeks, but In recent days, during the Express Web Connect download, no transactions are actually being transferred and no error is being reported. I tried deactivating and downloading from the website, but the OL-221 error still appears. Reactivating Express Web Connect download from with Quicken has not worked either. -- Please help.
Thanks
Jim Wetzel
I was finally able to download the transactions but only AFTER the statement period closed. That is when you are trying to download you can choose download activity for a "Statement Period" but you can't choose "Activity Since Last Statement".
This reverts back to a way the bank operated a few years back when the downloads were only available after your statement period closes.
Hopefully Synchrony will fix this and allow us to download at any time all recent activity that has been posted.

Synchrony Bank's transactions are not downloading. No error messages. Amazon.com Store Card - Synchrony. All other accounts are downloading. Occurring on both Windows and Mac

I'm Still getting the error message "Quicken is unable to complete your request (OL-221A).
(OL-221-B)"
when I try to export data from my Synchrony Bank Credit Card into Quicken. There still seems to be a problem!

Thank you
@nycaleksey
! Worked like a charm.

I have to manually insert begin/end dates in the transaction download file to process it.

I have been having the same issue with Sams Club. There is no DSTART in the .qfx file. And the <INTU.BID> solution didn't work.
So what's that status on this being fixed?
Well There is a DSTART and the solution worked. Sorry. But seriously, is this a financial institution issue or Quicken?
DKG24
Synchrony bank cannot find my Sam's account so I was happy to just "Export" to "Quicken" from their website. With a Quicken update a few weeks ago Quicken will no long import the file (qfx) automatically from Synchrony bank and I get an error message in Quicken that it is unable to complete the request (OL-221-A) have tried repeatedly for over a month now. Everything else I have is connected so it updates okay (almost).

@nycaleksey,
your solution worked perfectly... thank you

Synchrony PayPal account will not update - this also happens from time to time with Amazon and one other Synchrony Mastercard account.

Same here, still does not work yet for PayPal Synchrony MC.
Thank you, nycaleksey! The DTSTART/DTEND 'fix' addresses the issue temporarily.
Quicken, please have them fix it!
