Breaking up data

Question

I've been using Quicken since 2003 and have simply used the same dataset since then.   That's 17 years worth of data.   Not sure if that's the norm, but I've never wanted to try to break it up, since it was always convenient to have all the data in one place.   
 But I'm wondering how others manage their large datasets.  I'm thinking maybe break off the first 10 years worth or so.  But not sure if there's a good way to do that.

Most of us here recommend to NOT break it up.  Leave it all in one file.  We go back that many years too, not unusual.

@PeterK I've been using the same data file for 25 years and have no issues with it.

I've lost count of all the upgrade conversions it's gone through.

My advice is to leave well enough alone.

My advice is a single file and don't put attachments in your data file to keep the file a manageable size.  If you want to keep attachments, build a folder structure on your harddrive somewhere and keep them in there.  
If you have them in Q, they can only come out one at a time and are not available to be included in any of the reports.
