Breaking up data

I've been using Quicken since 2003 and have simply used the same dataset since then. That's 17 years worth of data. Not sure if that's the norm, but I've never wanted to try to break it up, since it was always convenient to have all the data in one place.
But I'm wondering how others manage their large datasets. I'm thinking maybe break off the first 10 years worth or so. But not sure if there's a good way to do that.

Most of us here recommend to NOT break it up. Leave it all in one file. We go back that many years too, not unusual.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

My advice is a single file and don't put attachments in your data file to keep the file a manageable size. If you want to keep attachments, build a folder structure on your harddrive somewhere and keep them in there. If you have them in Q, they can only come out one at a time and are not available to be included in any of the reports.
-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
- Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

Just so people know for the people that have put in attachments and now regret it, there is now an option that when you copy the data file, to no include them. So that can be used to strip them out.Signature:
