I have a 401k account through fidelity I wasnt dilligent about updating in quicken for several years, now I am going through and cleaning everything up. Is there a way to manually tell quicken what the # of shares should be for each security and have it reconcile similar to how it does banking accounts? If not what is the recommended method for fixing my issue?

Thank you!

The Adjust Shares action would be a way to do that:

If you don't intend to go back later on and enter the actual transactions, you may want to follow the advice in the Note at the end of this dialog and use Update Share Balance from the gear menu instead.

This will create Add and Remove transactions instead of Placeholders.

Assuming you are downloading, with the 401k open you can also go to Tools, online center, holdings, and compare to portfolio button to identify what your security holdings should be compared to the FI.  Then use the approach above.
