How do I update my username for a retirement account.

When I go to edit account, I am able to change the username, but it won't update when I click OK. I am unable to download through web connect and I believe it is because the ID is incorrect. I've been trying for MONTHS! Thanks!

To change the username you must first deactivate the account for downloading of transactions on the Online Services tab.  And then re-activate it using the new username.

Thanks Chris, but I"m unable to deactivate because I get a message that there are downloaded transactions that need to be accepted before I can deactivate -- except there are no unsaved transacations to save. I am going in a circle.

Try holding down Ctrl+Shift while pressing the Deactivate button.

If you haven't already, you may want to review: https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-says-there-are-transactions-accept-i-do-not-see-any

Okay ... another issue. I have an existing investment account. When I right click (edit) and then click on Online Services and try to activate for download, it prompts for the account name that I want to use. It won't let me use the existing name, but rather wants to create another account. How do I just activate the existing account without recreating a new one?

I suggest you clear the financial institution's name on the General tab of the Account Details window before attempting to set up the Online Services.

You have to deactivate the account for downloading transactions before you can clear the information on the General tab.

This is so frustrating. I ran into this a year or so ago with another account, and I had to delete the account and start over, and I lost all of my history.

Try using Add Account (+ sign on the account bar).
Even though is says add account you should get to a point where it is about to add it and it gives you a choice to add it or link it to an existing account.

I suspect you may be attempting to clear the wrong field on the General tab.  If the Online Services are deactivated, you should be able to clear the Financial institution.

I did this when I added the account ..... not easy task. Had to enter every security in the account. I just tried to do it again to see if I got to a point where I could link .... it will only let me link to the existing for the first security, then each additional security it's looking for a different name....

    I give up.

Sherlock - you are correct. I was clearing the account name not the financial institution. But ... when I did this, it brought me to the same issue as my response to Chris (see my reply above). It shouldn't be this difficult, right?

I agree and since we can't see your screen we are missing something too.
It shouldn't be this hard to do what you are asking.  My best suggestion would be to contact Quicken support.  They can do a screen share with you and hopefully get things straightened out.
