Do I have to be connected to the internet to actually use Quicken once it's on my Windows computer?

I've got an old version of Quicken and have a new computer. I am going to try to install the old version on the new computer but if I can't I'll have to get a subscription. I don't use any of the online features currently and will not with the new version. Don't trust my financial information out there. So do I have to be online to actually use Quicken once it's on my computer.

There should be no reason why Quicken 2015 shouldn’t install/run on your new computer.

Make sure you install the latest Mondo patch from here before trying to log in/run.

Sherlock is trying to help you with installing your old version, so he needs to know which version you already own.

To answer one of your questions, yes, you have to have an internet connection to install and register Quicken. After that you do not have to have an internet connect, in fact in that mode, it is best to disable your network adapters since Q will not try to connect for program updates.

NOTE: if you don't keep your subscription active, you will lose some screen real estate to a nag banner: see this thread Expiration-Banner

Also, Starter Edition goes into READ-ONLY mode when the subscription expires.

2015 quicken on new computer makes me sign in but wont install.

wants my intuit id. which I can successfully log into. but when i try to sing in when prompted after opening quicken, it gives me an error.

Go to this link: http://www.quicknperlwiz.com/quickenpatches.html , download and install the last patch release for your version of Quicken which will then ask you for your Quicken Id, not the Intuit Id.
