Been getting this for almost a week now. When I attempt to download transactions Quicken prompts me to enter my PNC credentials or to request a one time pass code from PNC. Neither works after a minute or 2 I will get the cc-501 error. I see that other banking institutions are impacted but haven't seen PNC listed as one.

    Hi @""Jerry Reilly" ,

I have PNC Bank - Direct Connect as oppose to Express Web Connect and I have a Standard Checking Account. I have no errors.

You have not mentioned, the Connection Protocol you are using.

I just checked and it's like the account was never set up. Since I have a virtual wallet account I thought I had direct connect. I still can't connect to PNC to establish a connection.

There is an outstanding Express Web Connect alert announcement on PNC.   Although the error posted is different, the issue may be related:  PNC Bank Returns CC-505/105 Error

Just tried - still getting CC-501 error "Oops. We're having a problem". Worked with Quicken Support on Friday, 9/10/21 for about an hour. Tried deactivating/re-activating PNC accounts. Tried adding PNC accounts and linking. Tried resetting cloud data. Tried signing out/signing in to Quicken. Tried a brand new Quicken file, all fail with same error.

Also strange, I even went so far as to disable 2FA auth on my PNC bank accounts yesterday (9/11/21), yet Quicken still prompted me for 2FA when trying to connect to PNC just now. I don't like having 2FA off, so i'm going to re-enable it.

Support simply told me to wait and try again later.

To be clear, i'm trying to use Quicken one step update (OSU) to automatically download transactions from my PNC bank accounts. Quicken calls it "PNC Bank - Web Connect" when you set it up, which I guess is confusing since both others AND support consider that to be me manually downloading transactions FROM PNC and importing them into Quicken (which works just fine but is mildly inconvenient).

The last few days, every time I do an update, PNC Bank is requiring me to get an SMS code. Every single time. In the past, this was very, very infrequent. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

If at all possible, you should make a Direct Connect connect, it is the most reliable.

You'll notice that the PNC Bank - Direct Connect also supports EWC, so you might try it.

PNC had worked since I opened the accounts last year. It stopped around the same time. 9/10. I am trying to use one-step update. I have deactivated my connection and have tried to reconnect, to no avail. My accounts are Virtual Wallet, and again, they worked until a few days ago. When I go to reconnect, it only gives me an option for Web Connect. How do you switch to the direct connect option?

    Hello @uutdad

Thank you for reaching out to the Community regarding your issue, although I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your PNC Authentication. It could be something simple like needing to reset the PNC account that might fix the issue you're having but we're also experiencing issues with PNC when updating/adding accounts. This might also be the cause but it's difficult to say. In this case,

I'd recommend waiting until we're able to resolve the issues with PNC in order to troubleshoot further. If you're interested in the error I'll leave a link down below.

    Hi @uutdad,

Which method are you using to download from PNC (Direct Connect, Express Web Connect, or Web Connect)?  Also, which version of Quicken are you running?

@SullyCuse - i'm new to Direct Connect, but i've done this so far:

Logged in to my PNC bank account, clicked "Customer Service", then under "Manage Accounts", clicked on Quicken Enrollment. Pick which feature you want, then my version of Quicken wasn't listed under "Select your Software", so i just picked Quicken for Windows 2020, provided my mother's maiden name for security word, and clicked "I Accept".

PNC is then supposed to mail me a welcome kit, and email me further instructions, which I assume will include a "Quicken PIN" that I use to configure PNC Bank - Direct Connect. I'm still waiting on that info. Did my enrollment yesterday, on 9/12/21

@SullyCuse Though that said, you mentioned you're Virtual Wallet? @splasher said this:

"Direct Connect (DC) is available for PNC, IF, (big if) your PNC accounts are NOT Virtual Wallet."

so doesn't look like Direct Connect is supported for virtual wallet PNC accounts.

I have the same problem with PNC. I have several different accounts with them, so every time I try to download my transactions, I have to go through the two-factor authentication for each account. It's supposed to be a "one-time" thing. Web Connect and Express Web Connect.

Web Connect and Express Web Connect.
Doesn't apply with Web Connect.  Web Connect is when you use your web browser to download a Web Connect/QFX file and import it.  Quicken doesn't connect to the financial institution while doing the import, and the logging in and downloading of a QFX file is entirely up to what your financial institution does and the web browser, this has nothing to do with it.  But note that if the same thing is happening in your web browser than there isn't any thing that Quicken Inc/Intuit can do because in fact Express Web Connect is Intuit servers logging in as you simulating a web browser, so it should be no surprise that it works the same way.

    Hi @Jerry Reilly

Are you having issues now trying to connect with PNC?  I suspect not.

The information that was posted above indicated that Q users who have "my virtual wallet" cannot connect through the Direct Connect method.  However they (you) can connect through either Express Web Connect or Web Connect.
