Can't Update Wells Fargo Password

I recently change the password for my Wells Fargo accounts. When I run a Quicken update, I get an error message that the password in the vault is wrong -- it is. If I hit "resolve" I can put in the new password and download my transactions. However, it does not store the new password in the vault. If I hit "update passwords", I get the same Wells Fargo update dialog, but it freezes immediately. I've had this problem for a few weeks. Every time I download my transactions, I have to put in the Wells Fargo password. Any suggestions of how I can update the vault? There used to be a menu option to update the vault, but I don't see that anymore.

Hello @Dstone001,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.
First, could you please provide which version of Quicken you currently have running?- Quicken > About Quicken
- Go to the Accounts menu and choose Hide and Show Accounts
- Uncheck any accounts with this specific financial institution that are checked as hidden in Lists
- Open the account register and navigate to the Settings gear on the bottom-right corner
- Click on the Downloads tab
- Click Disconnect Account (if there are more than one account associated with this financial institution, please repeat steps 1 through 3 for each account)
- Quit Quicken
- Open Finder and navigate to Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access app
- On the left panel in the Keychain Access app, set the Keychains to Login and the Category to Passwords
- Search for the financial institution's name in the top-right search field and delete any entries found showing "Quicken password for [your financial institution username] at [financial institution name] "
- Quit the Keychain Access app and reopen Quicken
- Navigate to Accounts > New and choose the appropriate account type for the accounts that you previously deactivated
- At the bottom of the window showing the list of the financial institutions, click on the "My bank is not listed" question mark icon, then click Update List
- Wait for the list to finish updating and " Updated: " displays the current date.
- Click the Show List button to continue
- Use the search field at the top of the list to find and select your financial institution and click Continue
- Follow the prompts to sign in using your login credentials associated with the financial institution
- If the accounts have been found successfully; use the dropdown menus to link each account to the appropriate account in Quicken
Let us know how it goes!

I was presented with the same problem as @Dstone001.
My problem with Wells Fargo started when they forced a password change via an interstitial page between login in and the Account home page on their website. This broke Wells Fargo Quicken Connect downloads, with the error
ACCOUNT_MISMATCH:ccscrape.106:Account Not Found
After I changed the password at the website, I then encountered the password incorrect error: INVALID_CREDENTIALS:ccscrape:103:Login error every download.
The solution for me was simply to delete the existing password record(s) in the Keychain. See Steps 5 thru 7 of the instructions provided by @Quicken Anja provide the details. Following these steps, the next time one goes online to download transactions, a password prompt will appear -- once a password is entered, a new entry will appear in the Keychain (you can watch it appear if you leave the Keychain window open) and the password prompt will no longer appear with future downloads (assuming the correct password was entered, of course).
There was no need to disconnect and reconnect the Quicken account to Wells Fargo.

There is no "Vault" in Quicken for Mac. Credentials/Passwords are either encrypted in your Mac's System Keychain (Direct Connect), or within Quicken's Connected Services system (Quicken Connect).
WF utilizes both types of connections. If I had to guess from your post, it sounds like Quicken Connect, but I can't be sure. Since you mentioned freezing, it might be best if you go ahead and contact official Quicken Support as they have more tools available to assist than fellow users such as myself. They should be able to help you get your password updated.
