Quicken Classic for Windows
Installing and Updating (Windows)
Will not launch after updating
QuicklyLosingPatienz
Updated using the pop-up in the app (sync), which I presume is the r37x mondo? Cannot get Quicken to launch fully since.

Hello
@QuicklyLosingPatienz
,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.
Could you please further elaborate and explain what happens when you try to launch Quicken? Does simply nothing happen or do receive an error message?
Please check back and let us know! Thank you.

I get the program 'frame' - looks like it's launching - then just a blank window. Over and over, regardless of launch method. Had to re-install from the web site twice now. Not happy.

Quicken crashes, hangs or loops at startup?
Please try this:
Reboot Windows.
Close Quicken (or do not start it at all).
Use Windows File Explorer to locate and rename
your current Quicken data file. For example, if it's called Qdata.QDF rename it to QdataX.QDF
Usually your file is located in your C:\Users\_your_username_\Documents\Quicken folder.
Having done that start Quicken as usual from the Start Menu or Desktop Quicken icon.
If Quicken cannot find your current data file during startup it should just simply load the program and give you either a nearly blank menu screen or one that has options to start as new user, restore from backup, etc.
If you get to this point without Quicken crashing
click on File in the Menu bar. Select the Validate function. Select the renamed Quicken data file and see if Quicken can access and repair it.
If the data file is beyond repair, try to restore your data file from the most recent Manual or Automatic backup. Go back to restoring successively older backups until you find a file that works

If you can't get Quicken to start at all,
uninstall Quicken using this procedure:

When done, reboot your computer and then
reinstall Quicken fromĀ your account at quicken.com
or your installation CD or saved downloaded installation file and allow it to update to the latest available patch release level.

This is now happening on a *second* W10 machine! The file opened fine for a bit on the new computer. Updated it (foolishly) per live update, and now it hangs after accepting a few updated bank items.

PS. Been there, done that on the UKR recommendations...

Task manager always shows VERY high power usage when it hangs.

Crashes while validating a file. Crashes when trying to restore a backup (after opening earlier today). Crashes on open.
This is an unusable program - on two different Windows 10 computers!!!
