    This will happen if there is a Placeholder for the affected security with a future date.

    You must delete the Placeholder before you can enter transactions that affect the cash balance.

    Placeholder transactions are normally hidden.  You can make them visible by doing EDIT, Preferences, Investment Transactions, and checking "Show Hidden Transactions."

    You should note that if the reason for the Placeholder still exists, Q will re-create it/them the next time that you download.  Merely deleting them isn't sufficient.  You need to correct the error that caused them.
