Message When Editing Opening Balance

I've had to adjust the opening balance of my checking account several times recently because of some errors.
When I adjust the opening balance and save it I get"
'You are recording a transaction back into the same account. Save it?'
Just curious what this actually means. It allows me to save, which is fine.

That message is routine when you're recording any transaction that self-references the account where the transaction is happening.Just acknowledge it and move on;

It effectively makes it a transfer to itself and is not considered income or expense. It is a good/proper message in this context.
