Errors and Troubleshooting (Windows)
.Net Desktop Runtime
Cary A. Strochan
Does Quicken require .Net Desktop Runtime? I know that it requires .Net Framework.
I ask because after I install an update I find I can not validate/repair Quicken without an application hang and then Quicken closes down and error is generated in the event log. If I wait at least 1/2 hour and reopen Quicken I can validate the newly updated file. It's a mystery to me.

.Net Desktop Runtime is actually used for .Net Core applications, so I'm pretty sure that Quicken doesn't use it. In other words, a program is either a "full" .Net Framework program like Quicken, or a .Net Core program, not both.
I'm not sure how that plays into what problems you are having, but in this thread some people found that running the .Net Framework repair fixed some crashes in Quicken that they were encountering.
