Microsoft OneDrive Folder Synchronization Causing Quicken Errors

I don't know if Quicken has brought this up with Microsoft or not, but there's a definite problem of creating a folder like "My Quicken" within "My Documents" and having your documents Synchronized to Microsoft's OneDrive ( so we'd have an extra backup copy in the cloud ).
Anyhow, on a few occasions now, I've forgotten to PAUSE OneDrive cloud synchronization during an update of Quicken, and it usually doesn't end well; I have to restore a previous backup copy. I don't know if anyone else has run into and reported a similar problem.
It'd be nice if somehow Quicken Desktop talked to OneDrive via API, paused it during program updates and one-step updates, to reduce the crashing, and when Quicken exited, it would turn the Synchronization back on.

Well, I don't think you are going to get anywhere with that suggestion since it has always been Quicken Inc's (and Intuit before them) policy that they don't support having the Quicken data file (the one you open, not a backup) in a network folder or cloud folder.Signature:

AFAIK, the OneDrive settings are configurable, beyond mere defaults.
Just configure OneDrive to exclude the \Documents\Quicken subfolder from individual file processing.
Once changed, set up Quicken backups to create both Automatic and Manual backups "every [1] time you close Quicken".
Now configure OneDrive to process the automatic backup files created by Quicken in \Documents\Quicken\Backup (or an alternate folder location as defined in Quicken Preferences / Backup)

Thank you both for your suggestions. I'll give that idea a shot, have it backup just the backup folder, not the main / live files.0

I don't use One Drive, but can it be configured to not react so quickly to a file being closed so that Quicken could grab it back before One Drive decids it needs to take action?

Splasher- I looked, no such time-delay settings. I can manually pause and restart the service... but nothing that says, wait 5 minutes after a file has closed before you try to take control and upload it.1

@jrc systems - I would not even use OneDrive for Quicken Backups. I tried it and was alarmed by how long it took to sync Quicken backup files.
I even uninstalled OneDrive and blocked it from being used by Windows after I saw how it changed the Documents directory structure and how it kept automatically reinstalling itself and was insistent on being the default documents location.2
