BCU - Requires verification code for every one step update

This issue is the same as the issue on the Mac version, except I still have it on the Windows version. This started when BCU changed their software at the end of July.
I have disconnected and reconnected at least 20 times, all the different ways and it is still requiring MFA. I have switched MFA on and off in the BCU app. I have the latest updates and have set up BCU as a new account to force the interface to update. I'm using Web Express.
What else is there to do? Any hope for a fix?

Hello @u000top2,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.
If you haven't already, I suggest you try to deactivate all accounts for this financial institution, then force Quicken to "discover" all available accounts and see if this will help resolve it. Please, follow the instructions below in order to do so.- Open the Account List in Quicken (Tools > Account List OR Ctrl + A)
- If present, select the Show Hidden Accounts checkbox at the bottom of the Account List
- Edit each account with this financial institution to Deactivate (or Remove From One Step Update) on the Online Services tab
- Click on the General tab and remove any info displayed in the Financial Institution, and Account/Routing Number fields. Note: The account must be deactivated first before these fields can be edited.
- When finished, close the Account List
- Close, then re-open Quicken
- Navigate to Tools > Add Account
- Walkthrough this process as if you were going to add a new account, providing the login credentials and answering any security questions/processes presented until you reach the screen where Quicken displays the Accounts Discovered at the financial institution
- Very carefully LINK each of the found accounts to the appropriate account you already have set up in Quicken.
I hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. The only difference from what I've been doing following the same procedure the last 20+ times is removing the Financial Institution in the General tabs.
Did that, rebooted, and what has been the case the last several times when adding BCU back via the add account, it only discovers about 1/2 of the accounts, so I canceled as in the past the second attempt discovers all the accounts.
This time on the 2nd try I get the CC-501 and try later.
I will let you know how that works out.0 -
Hello, I am also having the same issue with BCU and 2FA every time a one step update is initiated. I initially posted this in the Mac discussion, as it was the only reference to the problem at the time. I agree, this problem has been occurring since a digital banking upgrade BCU had on 7/25. I have been corresponding with BCU, and their last email stated the One Step Update 2FA problem between Quicken and BCU had been resolved as of 9:00am cst on 8/1/2022. However, I am still having the issue even after deactivating & deleting all financial institution information for all BCU accounts and then reactivating the downloads for One Step Updates. I have continued to reach out to BCU and they are working with their digital team to see what resolution if it is on their end.1

Still the same after following the above process at least 5 more times. After the latest Quicken update, it seemed to work once after deactivating & deleting all financial institution information for all BCU accounts and then reactivating the downloads for One Step Updates, but was back to requiring the 2FA the next day.
Created a new copy of my data file which disconnects all the links, BCU is the only one that still requires the 2FA every time.0 -
Thank you for following up with additional details, though I apologize for not having received a follow-up response yet.
At this point, we recommend that you reach out to Quicken Support directly for further assistance and possible escalation if they see fit.
I apologize for any inconvenience! Thank you.-Quicken Anja

Update: I spent 40 minutes with a very helpful lady in Tech Support. She checked all the background logs and had me do the "process" on both the new super validated file and the previous file. Same results as before -- 2FA still required. She suggested I contact BCU.
(Tech Tip I hope I never have to use again: she had me force a new download/refresh of the financial institution connection data: Tools/Online Center, in the header, hold Shift-Control and click on Contact Info. A new window pops up labeled "Refresh Online Traction Information". Check "Financial Institution Branding and Profile" and press the "Refresh Button").
I went to the nearby BCU branch office for banking business and while there asked about the issue and found out the issue is on the unpublish list of issues from the recent upgrade of the banking system. It is not on the published list that is on their website. Grrr.
So we wait for BCU to fix the issue.1
