Quicken update not completing task

Upon opening the Quicken for windows program, I get a pop up that shows quicken is searching for updates. It appears to find an update as indicated by the green bar at the bottom of the pop up. The program seems to lock up at this point as the little indicator circle does not go away. The pop up will not cancel and I cannot "X" out of the program. What gives?

    Thank you for contacting the Quicken Community, though I do apologize that you are experiencing this issue with updating your application. 

    Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Quicken? Please refer to the following support articles for instructions on uninstalling here and reinstalling here.
