Can someone tell me how to have the synclog.dat files load in a different location?

This file keeps loading on my desktop every time I use Quicken. I normally just delete it only to have it show up again next time. I have an Backup folder that I can move it to and it replaces the previous one. However....it's a pain to have to do this every time I use the program. Any help would be most appreciated.

The sync log will be created wherever your Quicken data file is, so you must have your Quicken data file on your Desktop.  The better thing to do use Windows File Explorer to move your Quicken data file somewhere that you don't constantly see, like C:\Quicken or the default location which is a Quicken folder under your Documents folder.  And then double click on it to open it so that Quicken knows the new location.  From there you can just open Quicken and it will open the last Quicken data file you opened.

You can also the Windows "Send to" feature to create a shortcut of the Quicken data file and put it on the Desktop.  Double clicking on the shortcut will always open that data file.

Chris...I'm by no means an IT expert. Let me decipher through your response and see if I can follow it. I may have another question or two for you. Thanks so much for the response!!

If you think that having these .DAT files intermixed with your Quicken data files is pollution, please vote for this idea:

Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro.
