Takes 10-15 second for Quicken to start up these days. Why?

Maybe you have a large data file? Does Quicken start faster if you open it without a data file, by holding Ctrl+Shift while double-clicking the icon?

Have you set the option for Q to download from your banks/etc upon start-up?re: the prior response, please do HELP and hold down the CTRL key while you click "About Quicken". What are the values shown there?

One test to see if this because Quicken is trying to talk to the Quicken servers and taking time for that is to disable your network connection and see if it comes right up.Signature:

Mine takes closer to 30 seconds ... and that only after I upgraded RAM memory from 4 GB to 8 GB. Before the upgrade it took several minutes, because the computer was totally running out of available memory and spent most of its time thrashing memory blocks into and out of the swap file.Ken267 said:QDF file=31831K; accts=39; cat.=250; mem. pay.=36; sec.=40/40; trans.=14577; mem.'209751K
How much RAM do you have installed? What Windows version?Open Task Manager and let us know, please, what "% Memory" usage is shown after Quicken has started.0 -
unplugged Ethernet and it only took 2 or 3 seconds to start.
What is going on here? I only use the internet connection to download quotes. So what is it doing? collecting data that I don't wan collected? I don't use the transaction download facility in Q,, I manage the transactions MANUALLY!
Again, What is Q doing to take so long to start-up?0 -
Quicken Inc never states the exact details of what they are doing at startup. I suppose I could put a network scanner on it and look at the details, but hardly seems worth it. Good guess would be checking the licensing, checking for new updates, and updating information like the financial institutions list, and probably these days some syncing between the Quicken data file and the Quicken Cloud dataset (even if you have Sync to Mobile/Web off there is information stored there).

That's what I'm concerned about. I don't think Q should be storing ANYTHING on the cloud that I didn't authorize. As I mentioned, I only use Q internet connection to download quotes daily, no security transactions. I enter those manually.
I do not use MOBILE either.0 -
I don't use the security update facility because I don't want Q or anyone to get into my accounts!0

Thanks for your input.0

How much is stored in the Quicken cloud dataset is dependent on what services you use, but it always exists.
Again Quicken Inc isn’t transparent on exactly what is stored there.Signature:
