System Lag All Over the Place

I wasn't quite sure where to put this because it happens in more than one place, but the one on pressing one step update is most obvious, so I'm putting it here.

1. On startup, after typing in my file password, my entire system hangs for about a minute and eventually returns.
2. On pressing the One Step Update toolbar button, that also hangs for a noticeable period AND shows the Quicken system "Checking for Updates..." dialog as though I had actually pressed Check for Updates on the help menu.
3. After the one step update is complete, and I click whatever account I want to use in the account bar, that also hangs for a period of time (and flashes and repaints Quicken's screen twice) before finally coming up.

The software is still usable, but barely.

    Slow performance?

How much RAM do you have installed on your computer?

What version of Windows are you using?

After Quicken has started, what does Windows Task Manager show about "% Memory" usage and "% Disk" busy of your C: - drive?

Earlier this year I have upgraded an abysmally slow Windows 8.1, Quicken R 41 laptop from 4 GB RAM to 8 GB RAM and the computer now performs very well. I no longer see "96% Memory usage" combined with "100% C- drive busy" just trying to do something, anything on the computer.

Please provide more details about your Quicken data file.

I'd like to know if you have account registers where a single account is approaching or exceeding 16,000 transactions.

What is the file size, in KB, as shown by Windows File Explorer?

And I'd also like to see the "File Information" window  (See below)

Is any cloud backup software (Dropbox, MS OneDrive, etc.) actively accessing your Quicken data file while Quicken is running?
What is the complete path and file name of your Quicken data file  (e.g. C:\Users\username\Documents\Quicken\QDATA.QDF)?

About file size and number of transactions:

You can find out how many transactions you have in your data file by doing this:
    - Click Tools / Account List. This should tell you how many transactions you have in each of your accounts in an optional column, "# of Transactions".
If this column is not shown in the Account List, click the Options button at the bottom of the Account List window, then click "Number of Transactions" to add the column.

    - File Information: Click Help in the Menu Bar. Shift+click About Quicken and it'll give you a File Information box. Please capture an image snapshot of this File Information box and attach it here.
The Windows Snipping Tool (available with Windows 7 and newer) can be used to capture a partial screen image and save it to a file of file type PNG, JPG, or GIF only.

To attach the image here please review

Thanks for your efforts - but this felt more like a connectivity type issue than a hardware issue, as I've been using the same data file on the same computer for a couple of years, and the computer was new at that time.

Also, the situation seems to be improved this morning after a few days. Not perfect, but a lot better. Also, thanks for pointing out the shift click on About Quicken - my file is 223 mb and has 67,400 transactions in it. Handy knowledge.
