Is it with a brokerage?  If so, there is no way to change it.

A brokerage isn't a bank ... and thus can NOT legally offer a "checking" account.
What they can offer is a Money Market Fund that ACTS like a checking account ... but there are subtle legal differences.
Is this "checking account" actually the cash amount in your brokerage account?  If so, you can go into the Account Details for the brokerage and check "Show Cash in a checking account" which will cause Q to create a pseudo-account for the checking type transactions.
