Connection to American Express [requires repeated reauthorization] (Q Mac)

Each time I go to access my Amex account I get this notification: American Express is transitioning accounts to a new connection method. I sign in, update the connection and go back to Quicken and everything works fine. Then I get this notification: Your accounts have been authorized successfully! But every single time I update my AmEx account, I have to go through the same authorization step. Clearly something is not working correctly.
