One-step Update will not remember bank password

Re Quicken Deluxe for Windows: In One-Step Update, one of my bank accounts requires that I input my account password. I am given the option to have Quicken remember this password by clicking a box that is labeled as such. However, this setting does not stick. I have to enter the password every time I use One-Step Update. Is there a fix for this minor annoyance?

    Hello @SAdair,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.

Could you please provide the name of the financial institution you are experiencing this with? And when did this issue first begin to occur?

    Thank you!

The bank is SouthState. The issue began to occur quite a while ago when the requirement for entering a password for this bank in One Step Update first appeared. I'm just addressing the issue. My other bank (Wells Fargo) does not require a password to be entered. Thanks.

Thank you for the additional information.

If you haven't already, I suggest you try to deactivate all accounts for this financial institution, then force Quicken to "rediscover" all available accounts with this financial institution and see if this will help resolve the issue. Please, follow the instructions below in order to do so.

    1. Open the Account List in Quicken (Tools > Account List OR Ctrl + A)
    2. If present, select the Show Hidden Accounts checkbox at the bottom of the Account List
    3. Edit each account with this financial institution to Deactivate (or Remove From One Step Update) on the Online Services tab
    4. Click on the General tab and remove any info displayed in the Financial Institution, and Account/Routing Number fields. Note: The account must be deactivated first before these fields can be edited.
    5. When finished, close the Account List
    6. Close, then re-open Quicken
    7. Navigate to Tools > Add Account
    8. Walkthrough this process as if you were going to add a new account, providing the login credentials and answering any security questions/processes presented until you reach the screen where Quicken displays the Accounts Discovered at the financial institution
    9. Very carefully LINK each of the found accounts to the appropriate account you already have set up in Quicken.

Once that is done, see if the issue still continues to persist.

Let us know how it goes!

Sounds like too much of a risk of lost data for that bank.

The steps previously provided do not affect any data already in the account(s). It simply reconnects the account(s) with a new and clean connection.

Hope this clarifies things! Thank you.

Followed your instructions. No data lost. One Step Update still requires me to input my password for SouthState in the box next to its name on the One Step Update Settings window despite checking the Save box next to the password. It’s a minor annoyance that I can live with.

I'm having the same problem with Vanguard.

Annoying. Now One Step Update no longer displays the check box for remembering that bank’s password. Maybe that’s Quicken’s way of fixing the issue.
