Wells Fargo 2-Step Authentication and Quicken
Is it possible to have Wells Fargo 2-step authentication activated and still be able to download data into Quicken?
Thanks for your help!

Hello @EllisGJ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community with this question.
You can have Wells Fargo 2-factor authentification activated and still be able to automatically download transactions and other data into Quicken. When adding your Wells Fargo account(s), it will ask for the 2FA via your phone number or email address (whichever you have set up with your account).
I hope this clears things up!

Hi Jasmine, thanks for your kind reply - much appreciated. Follow-up question: will I run into any issues when I update/change my Wells Fargo password? Other than changing the password stored in my Quicken password vault, will I need to do anything?
Thanks again.

Hello @EllisGJ,
Thank you for reaching back out.
We recommend changing your password on the Wells Fargo website, navigating to Quicken, deactivating and reactivating all Wells Fargo accounts (signing in using the updated password), and updating your password vault. You may find instructions below on how to deactivate and reactivate. Please keep in mind that it is recommended to save a backup before proceeding (just in case).
- Open the Account List in Quicken (Tools > Account List OR Ctrl + A)
- If present, select the Show Hidden Accounts checkbox at the bottom of the Account List
- Edit each account with this financial institution to Deactivate (or Remove From One Step Update) on the Online Services tab
- Click on the General tab and remove any info displayed in the Financial Institution, and Account/Routing Number fields. Note: The account must be deactivated first before these fields can be edited.
- When finished, close the Account List
- Close, then re-open Quicken
- Navigate to Tools > Add Account
- Walkthrough this process as if you were going to add a new account, providing the login credentials and answering any security questions/processes presented until you reach the screen where Quicken displays the Accounts Discovered at the financial institution
- Very carefully LINK each of the found accounts to the appropriate account you already have set up in Quicken.
I hope this helps!

Hello @Kroth,
Thanks for reaching out.
I suggest navigating directly to the Wells Fargo website, signing into your accounts, and then making sure that you have given Quicken third-party access.
I hope this helps!

Jasmine,
I'm having the same issue with the "one-step Quicken update" with Wells Fargo's 2-step verification. I can't seem to find where, on the WF site to give WF 3rd party access to Quicken. Can you give me the steps or general area to look for it? please :)

Hello @AnnT,
Thank you for joining this thread to share that you are also experiencing this issue.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the Wells Fargo website. However, I suggest reaching out to Wells Fargo directly for further assistance. It is recommended to request to speak to a tier 2 agent or a supervisor as they are generally more familiar with third-party applications such as Quicken.
I do apologize that I could not be of more assistance.
