Over the past several months, quite often, when I attempt to reconcile my NFCU checking account, the "Previous Balance" in the reconcile window has changed from what I entered for the previous statement reconcilation. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, how did you rectify the issue?

    Hello @jlaveral,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about this issue.  I'm sorry to hear you're running into this problem. Is this affecting multiple accounts, or just the one account? You mentioned its been going on for a few months; do you recall if anything happened just before it started, such as a power surge, power outage, update, unexpected program or computer shutdown, etc? Is your Quicken file on the C drive or on a shared network drive? Do you have it synced with a cloud service, such as One Drive or Dropbox (if you do, you will usually see the service name listed in the file location)? The simplest way to check file location, if you have your Quicken up and the file is open, is click on File, then near the bottom, just above where it says Exit, it will list the file locations for the 4 most recent Quicken files you have accessed, with the one you are currently in at the #1 spot.

    Thank you.

Hi Kristina. This problem only affects my NFCU checking account. Not my NFCU savings account or USAA accounts. The online balance for the NFCU checking account in Quicken is more than three times less than what the actual bank balance is, while all other NFCU and USAA accounts online balances match up. Yes, I've had to do balance adjustments over the past year when reconciling my NFCU checking account, as the problem only arrises when i attempt to reconcile the account. No, there has been no outages over the past year. Plus, my modem is plugged into a surge protector, and I do all my computing on a Laptop. My Quicken file is on the C drive, not the on the One Drive. I'm at the point where I want to delete my NFCU Quicken checking account. Or, at the very minimum, stop any regular monthly deposits into my NFCU checking account.

    Thank you for your reply,

I would not recommend deleting the account since you would lose any history that isn't able to redownload from the financial institution. Since the behavior you're describing sounds like it is file specific (and perhaps specific only to that one account within the file), the next step would be validating and/or super validating your data file. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.

    Validate:

    1. File
    2. Validate and Repair File...
    3. Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.

    Super Validate:

    1. File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Super Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    Thank you.
