Any fix yet - by Quicken - for bill reminders randomly being changed to "skipped"?
I see multiple closed topics for this but it is still happening. Some of my reminders are still being randomly changing to "skipped". Yes, I can fix it by changing something - the date, the days before entry/reminder, etc. - but I shouldn't have to! It is entered correctly and at some point Quicken decides to change the status to skipped. I have to review the bills and reminders screen periodically and change any with "skipped" status. Quicken - can you please [Edited-Readability] address or even acknowledge this bug?

Hello @goodrhue,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about this issue. I'm sorry to hear you're running into this problem. When did you first encounter this issue in your Quicken? Is it always the same bills getting skipped? When you are editing the reminder(s) to correct it, are you choosing Edit this instance or Edit this instance and all future instances?
Thank you.

Kristina,
It's been happening for probably the last 6-12 months. I don't edit the transaction, I edit the reminder from the "Manage Bills and Income" tab at the bottom of the "Bill and Income Reminders" tab on the register so it always changes all instances. I learned early on that it isn't the instance that is a problem - the next occurrence shows as "skipped" on the "Manage Bills and Income" page so I edit the whole reminder. The first time I tried deleting the reminder and creating it again which helped for the next instance but not forever. I haven't tracked which of my ~45 reminders this has affected but it happens to one or two about every month or so, and I do know some of them are repeats of ones I've already "fixed". I now know to always check the "Manage Bills and Income" page when I'm managing my Quicken data to look for anything that shows as skipped and fix it. I very rarely skip anything - I have most of my bills automatically entered into the register and I edit the amount or delete that instance after entry, if needed, rather than using the skip feature. That's how I noticed at first - when I didn't realize some things were skipped instead of being automatically entered as they should have been. I have been using Quicken and it's precursors for >30 years and this is a new problem.1 -
Thank you for your response,
Do you keep your Quicken file on your C drive or is it on a shared network drive? Is your Quicken file synced with any cloud service, such as One Drive or Dropbox (if it is, you will usually see the service name listed in the file location)?
The simplest way to check your file location, if you have Quicken up and the file open, is to click on File, then look near the bottom of the list, just above where it says Exit. It will list the file locations for the 4 Quicken files you have most recently accessed, with the one you are currently in at the #1 spot.
To check for file specific issues, I would recommend you try validating and/or super validating your data file. Please save a backup file prior to performing these steps.
Validate:
- File
- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.
Super Validate:
- File
- Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
- Super Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
Thank you.

My file is saved in a folder that is regularly synced to OneDrive. My quicken file currently does not show any erroneously skipped items since i fixed several yesterday before posting my question. To clarify, should I validate the file now, or wait until it happens again? If I validate the file now, the only way to see if it "fixed the problem" is to wait a while (and can I continue to use Quicken as usual?) to see if a transaction shows up as skipped at some point. This errors haven't happened every time I open Quicken and make entries/reconcile/etc. which is at least once a week. Then if it happens again would I super-validate immediately, or fix the errors first, or validate and then super-validate...etc.?0

Thank you for your response,
It is recommended that you keep your main Quicken file directly on your C drive and not synced with a cloud service. You can review this article for more information. If you need to keep the file synced with One Drive, I would recommend making sure to pause the sync with One Drive when you are accessing your Quicken file.
You would want to do the validate/super validate now and wait to see if the issue reoccurs. If you do not use the mobile and web functionality, it would also be a good idea to make sure sync is turned off by going to Edit>Preferences>Mobile & Web.
If it is turned on, you can click on it to turn it off, then click OK.
Thank you.
