Hi, I searched for my answer and cant seem to answer my specific question, I did learn to add hidden transactions though.

I don't know what I did incorrect, I had placeholders and added the share price from history, now some investments show a quote of 21541.51 instead of 215.. When try to edit the hidden transaction, it says "The values entered for this transaction do not equal the total amount" so I cant change the quote for that day. Thanks

It is hard to follow what you did here. Usually when resolving Placeholders you want to make hidden transactions visible, which allows you to see the placeholders.

Can you explain exactly what you did to resolve the Placeholder and what Quicken would not let you do?

I'm guessing you are looking at this screen

You obviously "fat fingered" the price in your previous attempt and have changed (edited) it, presumably to the correct $215. This is the warning that Quicken throws up when you edit a previously entered transaction. It's asking you, essentially, "do you really want to make this change, and if you do, what field in this transaction should I recalculate?" Assuming your originally entered number of shares was correct and the price per share was incorrect, you want Quicken to use the new correct per share figure and recalculate the Total Amount for that transaction.

I assume so, not sure what I did the first time !!! I am usually good at these things but maybe I hit total amount not price, I am not sure.

I saw the placeholder, noticed what was missing and added it, most likely it was the price. So I added it not sure what I clicked on next to recalculate. I did show hidden transactions from my search for my answer. I would just a way to adjust my profit/loss column,
