Transactions randomly disappear

I have the exact same problem described in this post

For instance, I have a checking account for which I have transaction history starting 1/1/2021. I've had the account for longer, so I have an Opening Balance transaction entered on 12/31/2020. That transaction has disappeared many times. The pattern goes like this

  • start balancing accounts
  • notice that the balance of that account is off
  • look back through previous statements to find when the discrepancy occurred
  • discover that the opening balance transaction has disappeared, again
  • enter it and reconcile it
  • sync my Quicken data to the cloud

Within a couple of months, it happens again. That is the most consistent transaction that disappears. Transactions do disappear from other accounts.

  • It's usually just 1-2 transactions
  • Usually from a previous year

It happens with the aforementioned account into which I import transactions manually and in accounts for which Quicken automatically downloads transactions.

    Hello @ecd1024,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about this issue.  I'm sorry to hear you're running into this problem. When did the issue first start happening?  Was there anything that happened just before the issue started, such as a power surge, power outage, update, unexpected program or computer shutdown, etc?  Do you keep your Quicken file on your C drive or is it on a shared network drive?  Is your Quicken file synced with any cloud service, such as One Drive or Dropbox (if it is, you will usually see the service name listed in the file location)?

The simplest way to check your file location, if you have Quicken up and the file open, is to click on File, then look near the bottom of the list, just above where it says Exit.  It will list the file locations for the 4 Quicken files you have most recently accessed, with the one you are currently in at the #1 spot.

    Thank you.

    Quicken Kristina
