Ability to highlight a transaction in color
.
really important for old folks with bad eyes
Use Case: Need the means to visually support any transaction that requires attention, i.e. displayed by a large colored font, displayed by a visual background color or, popup box stating "Attention Needed" associated to the transaction in question. Colum filtering also required to filter on these highlighted transactions.
Work around, None. Current Status "Flag For Review" is in sufficient due to size, column width or visual effect.
Standards: A requirement for visually impared and, an overall User Interace improvement
Just another user asking for the highlight feature. For me, I'd use it to call attention to transactions I have questions about and need to follow up on. For example: a shared expense that I need to make sure I get paid back for, an adjustment amount that I need to dig into, a subscription amount that is higher (like at the end of a promotional period) that I need to call the provider about, etc. These are all temporary needs, so using something like a category, tag or note doesn't quite fit the bill.
@Mer978 I'm in favor of this feature request, but it seems to be quite slow in attracting votes from fellow Quicken users. Unless/until the developers add some other way to highlight or flag specific transactions, you might find it useful to use the Status column, where you can set transactions to have a blue pencil (not reviewed) icon. To do this, Control-click on a transactions, and from the large pop-up menu, select Set Status of Selected Transaction to > Not Reviewed. It's not a perfect solution, but you's one way to quickly flag and unclog certain transactions. (Note this only works in accounts configured to download transactions; accounts which are entered manually do not allow transactions to be marked as not Reviewed.)
Another alternative is to use the Action column if it's not one you typically use. You can enter whatever you want, such as REVIEW, in this field, and making the Action column visible in your register makes it relatively easy to spot the ones you need to review. (And you can even sort the register by this column, or use Search to find only the REVIEW transactions.)
I'd like to add my support for this too. It would be very useful for me. thx.
Would be helpful to allow users to highlight column fields in color for emphasis or reference. Row highlighting most useful.
Hello @llama,
Your idea has been merged into this already active Idea thread regarding the same request.
Thank you!
I am using Quicken Classic Premier for Mac version 8.3.3
As many users have commented, when using Quicken for Windows, there is the ability to red flag a transaction for follow-up or reporting. This is not the same as the pencil icon or blue dot from downloaded transactions signaling reviewed or not. This feature is not available in the Mac version and it has been requested several times in my search of the community. Please add this simple feature into the Mac version.
Thank you,
Jeff

I'd like to see this as well. in addition, I'd like there to be a Dashboard panel listing the flagged transactions.
The use case I have in mind: I had a utility bill that I received in early February that was supposed to be automatically billed to my credit card at the end of the month. My usual procedure is to mark bills like this as Paid when I receive them to reflect that the payment has been arranged & I don't need to manually pay it.
This bill didn't get paid at the end of the month as scheduled. I noted it at the time but decided to wait to see if they were just being slow. The unmatched transaction gradually got dropped down in the register to the point I couldn't see it anymore & it slipped my mind until today, 3 weeks past the due date, when I just happened to scroll back in the register.
If I had been able to flag this transaction & have it constantly present on my Dashboard it would not have slipped out of my attention like that.
