Bill and Income Reminders showing wrong amount

My paycheck in Bill and Income Reminders sometimes shows the wrong amount (with not all the deductions taken out). If I go in Edit>Edit this instance and all future instances and just press done then it corrects itself but next time when I start Quicken again the same wrong amount is shown. Is there a fix for this?

    Hello @hoomans,

This could be caused by a data file issue.

To start with, I suggest that you please try validating and/or super validating your data file. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.

    Validate:

    1. File
    2. Validate and Repair File...
    3. Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.

    Super Validate:

    1. File
    2. Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
    3. Super Validate File
    4. Click OK
    5. Close the Data Log
    6. Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
    7. Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks @Quicken Jasmine. Validate File seems to have worked at first but then the issue happened again after I added some transaction through an on-line update. I will try the super validate route.

Hi @Quicken Jasmine, neither Validate or Super Validate worked. As soon as I downloaded some transaction, the erroneous amount showed up again.

    Hello @hoomans,

    Thank you for attempting that.

How long ago did this issue begin to occur?

    Thanks!

Hi @Quicken Jasmine , I started nothing Ching this about 3 months ago. The work around has been to go an edit this instance and all future instances and don’t make any changes and get out. This corrects the amount shown but if there is any transaction download activity it reverts to the incorrect amount. This is a little bit scary because I had also noticed that some saved transaction seem to revert to their previous amount and this is caught when I download the transaction. I just had thought this might have been that I made a mistake but this has also happened a few times so now I am not sure.

Hi, @Quicken Jasmine , here is an example. I had corrected this (4236.35) by going into edit this and all future instances and then Done. But after downloading transactions it reverted to the incorrect value that interestingly was also different than previous incorrect value!

    Hello @hoomans,

Are you able to restore from a backup that was created before the issue began to occur?

    Let me know!

Hi @Quicken Jasmine, no that would be too many months ago. Btw this only happens with my paycheck.

    Hello @hoomans,

In that case then next, I suggest that you try creating a copy of your data file which will rebuild all of the internal lists and database tables. If successful, you would then move forward with the copied file. To create a copy, please navigate to File > Copy or Backup File... > Create a copy or template (see examples below) which will also allow you to select a date range to move forward with.

If you wish to move forward with your entire data file, please check the full date range of your entire data file before copying so you can enter the correct date range if you do not wish to "shrink" your file by eliminating certain dates.

However, it's important to know that doing so will disconnect all online services in the copied file and you will need to sign back in with your Quicken ID and reconnect all of your online accounts, online billers, Quicken Bill Manager services, etc if you plan to use that copied file going forward. The reason for this is that the new copy also creates a new and separate dataset ID.

If the issue is not resolved in the copied file either, then feel free to switch back to your original file.

    Thank you!

Hi, This is too much for me. I will just live with the workaround that I have for now.

Hi @Quicken Jasmine, I did not realize that this has been an ongoing issue with Paychecks for over a year. In my situation, it also only affects the paycheck. The solutions offered have never worked for others and I do not understand why Quicken cannot fixt this. This is basic functionality of the software that must impact many users. I kind of get the feeling that Quicken is on it's way out. That's too bad.

This issue @Quicken Jasmine seems to be resolved now. It seems it was related to one step update which has changed since couple of days ago. The correct net amount on the paycheck stays after the update. Thanks.

Spoke too soon. When I activated cloud sync it came back.

    1. Are you Syncing to Mobile/Web?
      AND
    2. do you actually use the Mobile app on your smartphone or the Quicken on the Web browser-based app?

The Sync process has been suspected of a number of weird things happening with Quicken. Could your problem be caused by Sync?

If you answer "yes" to the 1st question and "no" to the 2nd question, turn Sync off completely. You don't need it. The Sync process should only be used in conjunction with the Quicken app for Smartphones or the Quicken on the Web browser app. It cannot be used as a replacement for backing up and restoring your Quicken data file.

If you answer "yes" to both questions, try to Reset Sync so that the current cloud sync file is replaced with a fresh complete copy
Do note that a full Sync process may take many minutes to complete.

How to reset Sync to Cloud
    • Log out of your mobile app, then do this on your desktop / laptop:
    • Go to Edit / Preferences / Mobile and Web
    • Click the "Reset your cloud data" link and follow the instructions until it is complete.
    • Sync your desktop file to the cloud
    • Now log back into your mobile app

How to turn off Sync to Cloud for the current data file
    • Go to Edit / Preferences / Mobile and Web
    • Change the Sync radio button and set it to OFF

I think it was the sync that caused the issue. I have been using the iOS app intermittently but now stopped the sync and deleted the app too.
