I don't want to have Quicken on a NAS, but I want to have the Qdata file reside on NAS so that I can access the most current data on any computer in our house.

There is NO version of Quicken that officially supports accessing the data file directly from a network drive. There is nothing that prevents you from doing it, but Quicken warns of potential data file corruption if you do it.

One way to do what you are asking is to have a Windows command file/script that copies the NAS file to the local drive, starts Quicken, and copies the file back to the NAS after Quicken closes. You will want to make sure that the command file/script deals with ensuring that the file can not be open on more than one computer.

No version of Q has the "Lock", "Commit" and "Rollback" commands that would be needed to safely operate Q over a network.

Do so at your own risk. If your network connection hiccups, your Q data file could be irreparably fried.
