I have the same problem and have tried all suggested solutions and repairs to no avail. It started when I tried to connect with a new Charles Schwab account. Since then, Quicken hangs on OSU and the only way to stop it is to force the program closed. I am thinking of giving up on Quicken

Hello @karenhanan,
To assist with this issue, please provide more information. Around what date did you first notice this issue? Did this coincide with an update, power outage, unexpected program or computer shutdown, etc? Do you keep your Quicken file directly on your C drive, or is it on a shared network drive or synced with a Cloud service? When Quicken hangs during One Step Update, how long do you wait before force closing the program?
I look forward to your reply!

I am working in a new copy after following troubleshooting steps for another issue. I am reactivating my accounts online access and the last one was updating all night and never finished. I had to kill the program.
I am running Quicken Premier vR53.32, build 27.153.32.
Thanks.

I am having the same issue - this is quite frustrating

As of 12/27:
My One Step Update process hangs and never completes after at least 15-20 min. I have to kill the Quicken program in Windows Task Manager.
I'm using Version R53.32 Build 27.1.53.32
Please advise.

Same Problem..Started after last update.

Same here, has been sitting on OSU for over an hour.

Same problem here. First time this has happened to me - was working fine yesterday. This morning it hangs and I need to kill it via Task Manager.

Is there ever an update that doesn't have bugs? Updating accounts should not be one of them. Ridiculous.

Same issue here. Can someone from Quicken comment here if this is a known issue and when it will resolve? Like bc2222 my Quicken was fine yesterday and hangs today. We rely on this software for reconciling daily spends. This is frustrating to have at least one issue at almost all times.

Same hanging One Step Update. It was good a day or two ago when last used. Had to kill the process with Task Manager after lengthy time (about 30 minutes).

Same problem here. It was fine yesterday morning (Dec 26). Today I needed to kill it with task manager after a 45 minute update hang. My file is on my C drive and nothing unexpected has happened on my end. Version R53.32 Build 27.1.53.32

CC501 error. Quicken server error. This happens unreasonably often! Fix it please.

Quicken is completely crap now! Their only strategy is to attract new customers who do not need or care about a comprehensive financial software tool. Even with the subscription model which is a ripoff they are not investing the time and money to address known issues. Their only answer to every problem is to check the file for non-existent error or to rebuild it. This is becoming a waste of money and worse waste of time.

See this thread. A cc-501 error is usually on the bank's end.

OSU also appeared to hang for me, but it eventually completed and reported CC-501 errors for most of the credit card and bank accounts. It did successfully update an investment account, one credit card, and quicken cloud sync. No problems with it before today.

that is odd. Happening on multiple accounts at different banks.

Opened by Quicken this morning to the same Issue, One Step Update hanging and having to the kill the program from task manager. So tired of this crap that we pay for. Why can we not get better customer service from Quicken?

Quicken Support leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to customer communication during an outage / triage situation. Acknowledgement of issues on the vendor side could be more timely. When issues are acknowledged, you get the blanket statement of "escalated internally with no ETA" and for the most part this same message is communicated periodically until the issue is magically resolved.
When you are in an outage / triage situation and want to provide top tier customer focus / service, how about keeping your PAYING customers informed of a resolution timeline, by being more forthcoming with troubleshooting actions / details on the backend? Surely there is a Situation Management team within the Quicken Support organization who is managing this outage / triage scenario, requesting periodic updates from the Quicken Support engineers working this issue, and updating Quicken leadership team on current resolution times for this outage. Quicken Support's customer communication frequency on resolution timeline should be in lock-step synchronization with the frequency of updates the Quickent Support Situation Management team is receiving from the engineers troubleshooting / resolving the outage.

Interestingly, my QWin is consuming 31% of CPU while OSU sits there for many minutes apparently doing nothing. I wonder what's consuming all that CPU?

The programmers at Quicken are violating basic programming technique by not giving the User a means of terminating the process gracefully. They open a MODAL Dialog box in the One Step Update process. A MODAL dialog box forces the focus to itself, and prevents the user from doing anything else until they interact with that dialog box. Then, when the process is commenced, the User has NO WAY TO TERMINATE that process gracefully.
THAT is the problem which Quicken needs to fix. There can be many reasons for that process to hang. But NOT giving the USER a way to gracefully terminate that process is programming malfeasance, pure and simple !
The One Step Update dialog box needs a [CANCEL] button. It is UNACCEPTABLE that the user needs to resort to Task Manager to force Quicken down (if the user even knows how to do that).

Quicken is obviously broken today (12/27/2023). Quicken customer support is located in Guatemala. The last time I talked with Quicken customer support they told me it was the financial institutions error and then they said it was my my PC's error and then back to the financial institutions error and then back to the PC's error. They told me to take my PC to a Microsoft expert and let them fix it. Quicken customer support is obviously broken. I doubt that there is anyone there that knows what they are doing.

Pretty amazing that I received a renewal bill in my email and the price is increasing while not able to update my accounts. Been a user since 1997 currently using Classic Deluxe R53.32 27.1.53.32 on Windows 11 Home Edition. Having only 1 option to close the program, through the task manager is unacceptable. Having to back up the program while using it since I don't trust it is also unacceptable. Each "new" edition is worse than the previous. Tired of paying for something that doesn't work properly.

I got this info from the Quicken president/CEO. He told me some time ago that quicken data in held on servers owned by Intuit and they are the ones causing these problem which got much worse when Quicken was forced to EWC+. Quicken was but is no longer affiliated with Intuit. This was NOT a move requested Quicken. Intuit wanted to focus on their other programs (i.e. TurboTax and QuickBooks) Quicken has not been the same since EWC+ and that why we cannot upload payment instructions to our banks. It is a one way street— downloads only.

Having the same issue. Happens quite frequently lately, totally not acceptable. Quicken needs to change the name to "Slow and Incredibly Frustrating Financial Software" Has anyone found a solution to this ongoing issue?

Why does that post say resolved and with a date of 4/7/23?

This is
notResolved. This morning OSU hung on my other 4 institutions after successfully updating my Fidelity accounts. While the OSU process no longer hangs as it did this morning, it now returns CC-501 errors for all institutions (except Fidelity). It basically went from hanging to failing.UPDATED - An hour later and updates are now working for all of my institutions.
