How do I restore the Current Balance Column in the Register?
I am using Quicken 2017 and the Current Balance column in the register has disappeared; the ending balance is showing correctly. How do I restore the Current Balance column?

Which account register are you looking at?
I've never seen a "Subtotal" field at the bottom of a register … if you could, please include an image snapshot of this register view with your next comment. That might help us determine what's going on.Are you sure the register is sorted correctly by Date and NOT filtered in any way?

The Current Balance is only shown when it is different from the Ending Balance (in an offline account):
Example:
Changing that last transaction to today's date:

Note that you have a confusing term "column". If it is this column that is missing:
Then click on this icon (yours might be a gear icon in the same location):
And select to display that column.

Here is my register. See the problem? No current balance.

That isn't your register. That is the Home tab, and you have selected the "All Accounts" "widget". And it only shows the ending balance of each account. Maybe what you want to do is is display the Account Bar, which is currently hidden?
If so, click here:
Once you have the accounts shown you can then click on a given account to show the register.

I have always been able to see the Current Balance as well as the Ending Balance for all of my accounts on the home page. I have not changed anything.

Well, since you are using Quicken 2017, that software hasn't changed since about CORRECTION 2018 (online services stopped in 2020).
Also, this Home tab "widget" hasn't changed in decades.
So, I don't know what you were looking at before.

I was looking at the homepage before that showed both the Current Balance and Ending Balance.

I'm sorry, my mistake. The reason you don't have a Current Balance in that widget is the same reason you wouldn't have one in the account register. You have no future dated transactions. Your Current and Ending balances are the same.

Yes, looks like you had the "perfect storm" where for once you didn't have a difference between the two balances in all of your accounts.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am to finally understand what happened and what I need to do if/when it happens again. Have a great New Year!
