How can I start new year, with new categories.

Hello, I have been using quicken for already more than 10 years and I have loads of categories which I would like to start over for this new year. How can I save all the data and start from scratch/ Thank you very much for your help, Im an 86 years old man and Im having troubles.

The data is in a data file, not the program. So, yes, you will still have your old data, but you will not be able to see it at the same time as the new data file. You can only have one data file open at a time. You will not be able to run reports that contain data from both data files.

There is nothing that would stop you from creating a new version of each of your accounts in your existing data file and start recording the transactions from 1/1/2024 in them. The new accounts would have a Opening Balance equal to the Ending Balance of the old account and could be created by making a transfer from the old account to the new account, thus zeroing out the old account and starting the new account with the proper balance.
