Why does the last update date not match in search results not match the actually last posted comment date?

vs

Is it working correctly and I don't understand how that dates are posted in search results?

    Hello @leishirsute,

The “last updated” date it’s referring is the superuser’s (Boatnmaniac’s) comment only, not the entire thread.

If you look closer, it says “Comment by Boatnmaniac” before showing “Last Updated: December 30, 2023”.

Hope this clarifies things! Thank you.

@Quicken Anja That wouldn't be correct either as Boatmaniac also commented on Jan 3. It seems Last Updated should be Jan 3.

It seems last updated is not working correctly in the search results which can end up sorting the Newest comment wrong.

In fact, it seems Last Update should reflect the latest comment in a discussion to get a more accurate search results sort.

Please clarify what Last Updated is supposed to mean and how to sort search results for the last commented discussion order when selecting Newest.

But that was a different comment than the one in your search results. Search results don't show entire discussions, they show individual posts & the dates of those posts - they may be the first post in a thread or one occurring in the middle of a thread, either way the date is the date of that specific post. It's not the same as when you're looking at the Discussions page & seeing the date of the most recent post in a discussion.

So, if understand correctly the Last Updated shown in the search results does not mean the last updated date in a discussion. It seems this could give incorrect sort results when sorting for Newest discussion comment. Does the sort for Newest discussion list by Last Updated date in search results or list by the newest comment in all discussions matching the search criteria?
