Budget - adjusting "actual" default

Options

Hi - I pay my utilities and gas etc. on my credit card. When creating a budget, is there a way to adjust the "actual" ? It pulls data from the bank account but credit cards are one bucketed item - not broke down by category.

    Hello @jodijd_6,

The budget actual is based off of the transactions that are downloaded or manually entered into your accounts. You mentioned that it pulls the data from your bank account. Do you have the credit card accounts in your Quicken at all? If not, that may be the problem. Quicken can only "see" data that is made available to it. All it would see from the bank account side would be the payments sent to the credit card accounts, which would cause everything to show as one lump "Credit Card Payment" category. If that is the issue, then the way to correct it would be to add the credit card accounts into your Quicken file so that Quicken would be able to "see" the categories for each transaction on the cards.

    I hope this helps!

No, you can't adjust "actual" in budgets-it is drawing from actual transactions: if you don't have these transactions in a register, then your budget can't see them.

Is your credit card setup within Quicken? That might be the missing link. (It doesn't matter if the transactions are downloaded or manually entered). If so, the trans would show up in the budget from there.

Now, if your CC isn't setup within Quicken, you can still workaround this with a less than elegant solution; pay your CC via a split transaction crediting each line item representing your spending. You have to pay your CC, (Checking account?) so do it from that account:
