I'm using Quicken to help track my mom's accounts. I am mostly interested in tracking her spending, checking account balance, etc.
She has an investment account for her and my late Dad's IRAs. It is managed by an investment firm that does not support Quicken. The accounts contain a number of stocks and funds and I do not want to enter in all the different investments. I know Quicken could track all of them, but I just don't need to spend time entering all the data. What I think I'd like to do is simply enter the inputs and outputs and then enter the account balances each month (or quarter) to keep it current. I am not concerned about tracking lots, cost basis, rates of return, etc.
What ways have people found to do this? Clearly it should be done in an "offline" account since nothing will be downloaded. Should I try to use an "invesement account" in Quicken or a "Banking account" or an Asset Account?
Thank you for any ideas.
