QMac reconciliation. - opens up Split screen ? (edit)

Does anyone know why, when I am reconciling and I check one of my credit cards off as reconciled, it open up the "split" forcing me to scroll through all of it to get to the next item? I just dont understand what the benefit is of opening up the split. It is fairly deep for me every month and is a bit of a pain while reconciling. Also, when I am adding a new CC charge and I hit "Split," why does it bother to open up the previous month's split? Another thing that makes no sense. It's different every month, and it isn't saving me any time, really. Its just another thing I need to do that could be streamlined. Unless there is some preference I havent found to turn this stuff off.

    Hello @JB01,

To clarify, this first behavior you mentioned is happening on the Reconcile screen when you put a checkmark in the CLR column next to the split transaction? If that is where you're seeing this behavior, it is happening because when you click to put a check in the CLR column, it also selects the transaction, which causes it to automatically expand to show you the details of the split. You can turn this behavior off. While in the Quicken program, go to Quicken>Settings>Register.

Where it shows Splits, uncheck "Automatically show splits during reconciliation".

The second behavior you mention sounds like QuickFill may be the culprit. What process are you using when you fill in your information? Are you starting with the Payee column? Are you getting a dropdown showing recently used payees? Are you using the tab key to move over to the next column, or are you using the mouse to click on the next column? If you're using the tab key, then it may be defaulting to whichever recent Payee was highlighted and filling that information for you. For more information about QuickFill, click here.

I look forward to your reply!
