Fidelity VISA Error CC-506

I get this error everytime I update. I tried fixing by resetting. What is strange is it does download new transactions for the VISA. But often the balance is incorrect so I'm tracking down if this is due to missing transactions.

Your post title refers to Visa … but your JPG shows "Investment Retirement Accounts". Can you clarify?

And, why are you using that FI name, instead of "Fidelity Investments"? I download both taxable and retirement accounts from Fidelity using the "Fidelity Investments" name.

You might consider taking a backup then disconnecting from your current FI and re-connecting using the other FI name.

@NotACPA - Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts is the FI (EWC+) connection that is needed to download the Fidelity Rewards Visa Card transactions. Fidelity Investments cannot be used to downloading this credit card.

Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts also works well for downloading investment accounts (and NetBenefit accounts, too?) but it supports Simple Tracking only, not Complete Tracking.

@mfelmlee - Perhaps this Support Article will be of help?: https://www.quicken.com/support/message-when-using-online-services-cc-506 .

Regarding the balance in the credit card account being off:

Fidelity does not support download Pending Transactions (at least not yet) for their Visa card so that is not the issue.

One possible cause is that the Opening Balance dollar amount sometimes gets changed when the connection method is changed, either when you first set up the account with this Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts or you made some change to the connection method (such as, Reauthorized, Deactivated/Reactivated or sometimes even Reset). Check the dollar amount of this transaction and correct it if needed.

    • Perhaps the easiest way to determine if the dollar amount has been changed is to restore a backup file dated from before when you first observed this balance issue. You could even restore a backup file much older than that if that file will have your Fidelity Visa Card account in it (either connected via the Elan Financial Services or via the Fidelity Rewards Visa Credit Card financial institutions). When you restore that backup file, be sure to give it a different file name so it does not overwrite you main data file….TEST would be a good name to use.
    • After correcting the Opening Balance transaction dollar amount or confirming that it is correct, I suggest that you enter and save that dollar amount into the Memo field. Then if this happens again in the future it will be very easy to check the dollar amount and correct it if needed.

You mentioned that perhaps some transactions had not downloaded. That is a possibility but another possibility is that duplicate transactions might have been entered into the register when Fidelity - Investments & Retirement Accounts was first set up or when there has been a connection change. Scroll backward in the register about 90 days prior to when you first started seeing this balance issue. If you find any duplicates, delete one of the transactions and retain the other.
