For all windows, allow setting background color and text color

There are existing requests for color adjustment including dark mode.

Why not make the colors (background color, text color) user-settable for all windows?

There could be a user settable default for all windows, plus any specific settings for specific windows (example: registers).

This is a display-color issue only, and hence low risk since it does not impact any user financial data. Also does not impact issues related to window sizing or font size changes. Handle the color setting completely independent from all other aspects.

This should also alleviate with the 'Dark Mode' effort and should eliminate that for the most part at least.

As far as the capability to change background colors in Quicken for Windows is concerned, this is what you can do right now:

    • In Edit / Preferences / Colors there's a setting for Background Color. I recommend trying Grey vs White.
    • Account register backgrounds can be set by account type. Try the Colors button in Edit / Preferences / Register.

I’m sorry but this shows a lack of how programs work and are programmed. It is far easier make windows all the same than allowing the user to set every window individually (hint every window’s settings would have to have its settings stored separately).

And don’t see where the argument that changing the window settings doesn’t change the financial data since neither would “dark mode “.

Dark mode by definition pretty much means changing all the windows (what else is there to a GUI?), but with only one setting for the whole application.
