Crash After One Step Update
I am running Quicken for Windows Premier (fully updated) on fully up to date Windows 11 on a powerful notebook with lots of RAM and SSD space. Every few times I do a one-step update (OSU) the program crashes/closes but with no apparent data lost.
Sequence typically is:
- Start Quicken
- Initiate One Step Update
- OSU completes, splash window showing details appears
- I click to close that window and program crashes
Other times appears to complete OSU but crashes before I can do anything. Today OSU completed, I closed the OSU window, clicked on my checking account and program crashed.
When I re-open the program everything appears fine with accounts that have transactions flagged and I'm able to proceed with no issues. Two days ago I did a super validate on my file and only one account was noted for repair and that was an asset account unrelated to OSU.
I have a number of accounts, checking, credit cards, investments, etc that are updated during the OSU process.
I have no other crashes in extensive use of the program.
Posting to see if anyone else experiencing the same sequence of events, i.e. crash after apparent successful completion of OSU?
Each time I have reported it through the error reporting menu.

Hello @mtn_living,
To start troubleshooting this issue, please provide more information. When did you first notice this issue? If you recall, which version of Quicken were you using when the issue started? Do you keep your Quicken file directly on your local hard drive? Is it synced with any cloud services, such as OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox?
If you haven't done so already, please backup your Quicken file and try re-installing the most recent patch manually, and test to see if that resolves the issue. For instructions on how to do that, please see this article.
I look forward to your response!

I've been having the same issue with Quicken crashes after One Step Update. When I restart Quicken it does a resync with the Quicken Cloud. I manually redo the One Step Update with no issues. I'm using Quicken Premier with the current updates, Windows 10 currently updated. I've done a file validation but it does not fix the issue.

Hello @edenjw,
To assist with this issue, please provide more information. When did you first notice the issue? Was there anything else that happened around the same time as the issue started (program or computer update, unexpected computer shut down, etc.)? Do you keep your Quicken file directly on your local hard drive?
If you haven't already done so, please try manually reinstalling the most recent Quicken patch. For instructions on doing that, please click here. If the issue persists after that, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Quicken program.
Please let me know how it goes!
Quicken Kristina
