TrustCo Bank - cannot link to existing accounts
Quicken Classic Deluxe
Randomly out of the blue, Quicken decided my checking account would get the infamous red circle with the line through it. I waited several days, trying each day. The "fix it" (where it resets the account) never does anything.
So the "usual" (at lest when this happens to Discover, Amex, Chase, etc.) is to deactivate the online services and re-add the accounts.
So I deactivated the 3 accounts I have (checking, savings, overdraft).
I cleared out the financial institution stuff in Quicken. HOWEVER, it will NOT let me clear out the FI for the Checking Account.
I go to add the accounts (doesn't matter whether I do the setup online or the Plus sign), I login and it sees the accounts from the bank's perspective.
The issue (well one of many):
- When I go to "link to existing" Quicken will either pull up a list of about 30 accounts (including hidden accounts). NONE of which are my TrustCo accounts
- or, it'll pull up a much shorter list (like 8), NONE of which are my TrustCo accounts
I have no idea why Quicken seems to randomly show different lists at different times nor WHY it refuses to show the TrustCo accounts from the already existing ones, when they are cleared out (well except for the checking one, and I Have no idea why it won't clear that one out)

Hello @mjonis,
To troubleshoot this issue, I'd recommend checking the account type that is showing on the Add/Link screen. If the account type is different from the existing TrustCo accounts in Quicken, that may be why they aren't showing as an option to link to. That may also explain why you sometimes see a long list and sometimes see a much shorter list of accounts in Quicken to link to.
Another potential cause of this issue is if you still have an older account that's trying to connect in Quicken, but doesn't exist or is closed on the financial institution side. If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend that you backup your Quicken, go to Tools>Account List, check for any accounts that are showing connected, but shouldn't be, and deactivate them, if you find any.
It is strange that it won't let you clear out the financial institution information for the Checking account. Did you double check to make sure the account is deactivated? Have you closed and re-opened the program since this issue started?
I look forward to your response!

Ah, thank you!
I had an account I had "forgotten" about (It's an overdraft that's "linked" to the Checking account on TrustCo's end). When I deactivated THAT account, then it let me remove the FI from the Checking and then it found everything OK.
Thank you
