Transaction Reports Show ZERO Total on Split Transactions
On a transaction report by category, the TOTAL at the end line of split transactions show ZERO.
In that actual transaction in the Register, the charge shows the correct amount as Total.
Why does the transaction total show the correct amount, but the Report total for that transaction shows ZERO?

What is the exact name of the report you are running, and how are you accessing it?
What is the exact name of the column you call TOTAL? Neither the Banking Transaction report nor the Investment Transaction report has a TOTAL column.

Itemized Categories Report. The right most column is named AMOUNT.
Spending by Category report shows the same results.
12/28/20 shows ZERO. This is a split transaction

Ok, what were the Categories in the 12/28/20 split transaction? What were the amounts?
Was the amount for Maintenance zero?

Here is the split transactions. If I change the Split transactions Top Amount is $812.03 and make all the split tranactions to be negative numbers numbers, the main report screen show $0 Charge and changes the reconciled transaction to $0.

The top line for Edge is zero. Try deleting that line.

I agree the zero is probably coming from the top line.
My guess is that with a split transaction, the "By Category" reports only pick up the first instance of a Category in each transaction rather then adding them up or making a separate line for each.
It would be much more common for a split transaction to only have one instance of each Category, in which case the report would work correctly.
Let's experiment!

Solved!
I eliminated the first SPLIT line with the $0 and added the required word"Edge" to each line of the split transactions.
It now shows each split transaction in the Report Total.
Thanks!

You could also add the word EDGE as a TAG in each line of the transaction. After adding it to the 1st line, you can simply scroll down to the each succeeding line and use the double-quote character to copy that field in the immediately preceding line.
Since Edge is the vehicle type, that's probably easier and you can use Reports by Tags to get all activity recorded for the vehicle.

You could also use the Edge Tag on many of the other transactions in your example and for expenses in other Categories, making it easy to identify all the Edge-related expenses.

How do I use the double-quote character (") to copy that field in the immediately preceding line? I added EDGE to the first line, bute verytime I go to the next line and type the double quote character tries to add the double quote character to that line.

Sorry, my mistake. It's not a double-quote, it's the single quote … and it only works within splits … not in the main register.

The double quote did not work for me either. The notes at at the bottom of the Help say you can assign a transaction level Tag and it will apply to all the Split lines but that does not seem to work either.

Works like a charm.
Thanks!
