Is anyone else getting an OL-306-A error for Cambridge Investment Research?

Has been happening for the last week. I am able to log in direct to my accounts so I know my username and password are good and the accounts are still there. I did the standard stuff (checked my quicken version and reset accounts) but still getting error.

Deactivating my Cambridge connection and then adding it as a NetXInvestor one worked for me. THANKS!!

  • I'm also receiving the error. Like you, I'm able to log into my Cambridge account. Any idea if this is a Quicken issue or a Cambridge issue?

all my other quicken downloads are happening without an issue so I think it is Cambridge

  • Hello @J.E.D. and @hansen82,

The error OL-306 is usually caused by one of the following:

    • An incorrect account type that does not support automatic account information (that is, you may have selected a savings account type for a checking account).
    • Your account has been closed.
    • The account has not been authorized for downloading.

    To resolve this issue:

    I hope this helps!

Yes, I did all those things. Did not fix the issue.

  • I called Quicken to troubleshoot shoot this issue. I deactivated the on-line download feature, but when attempting to reactivate using my user name/password I still receive an error message that the system is unable to process the request. My financial advisor is troubleshooting with Cambridge and Pershing. I suspect it is a Cambridge/Pershing/NetXinvestor issue.

Thanks! I had my advisor check with them as well, but they stated they weren't aware of any issues on their end. Hopefully as more folks weigh in on this they will realize that there is something broken.

  • In Quicken, from the Tools menu select "add an account" and type NetXInvestor in the financial institution field. When you click "next" in the user id field you need to include both your financial institution id and user id (no spaces), then enter your password. All the accounts associated with the financial institution id should appear. In the drop-down box on the right side, select the option to match data to an existing account (assumes it is already included in Quicken; otherwise select new account). Once this is done, data should be up-to-date. I completed this task this morning and it worked. Hope this helps.

I tried both with and without the space in the user id field. I still got the error that "Quicken is having trouble connecting to Cambridge Investment Research."

I also tried using just netxinvestor direct vs. the Cambridge institution, but that didn't work either.

Finally got success! Deactivate the online service for all accounts that were using Cambridge Investment Research as the Financial institution. Then pick one of them to reactivate but choose NetXInvestor as the financial institution. Use your financial institution and login ID as the user ID. Do not put a space between the two. Use your web password. Once you are in you can link existing accounts. However one tip is that if you don't see the account you want to link it to then select "don't add to quicken". Once you've linked what you can, you can go into the accounts that weren't linked and start from there it should pop up as a linked account. I have 13 Cambridge accounts so it took me 3 separate sessions to get them all linked.
