Bill reminders disappearing after bank download and match has been applied

This appears to be a fairly recent issue. I have several bill reminders for tenants for rental homes that pay their rent on the 1st. Many tenants pay the same amount in rent. Many pay with venmo. So you can imagine when someone pays, the downloaded transaction looks like “venmo” and the dollar amount.

Well quicken will match it with a previous entry I guess, say “tenant A” but in reality it was “tenant B” who paid. Not a big deal, I can deal with that. The issue is that it removed the bill reminder. So even after I fix it, or Revert it back to venmo, “Tenant A” reminder is gone.

I could fix it by turning off renaming rules, but that makes life harder elsewhere. I guess I could fix Iy saying never rename Venmo, Cashapp, or Applepay.

What changed in the meantime that this is now a thing where it removes the bill reminder?

    Hello @steven_herron94,

To assist with this issue, please provide more information. You mentioned this started recently; do you recall when it started? Did this behavior start after Quicken updated? If so, do you recall which version it updated to when the problem started? Is this happening only with reminders for your tenants, or are you seeing it happen with other reminders also? I notice you have automatic entry turned off. When the transactions download into the section beneath your register, are you reviewing them and rejecting the incorrect matches? If not, what method are you using to deal with incorrect matches? For the reminders that disappeared, when you go to Tools>Manage Bill & Income Reminders do you see them in the Monthly Bills & Deposits tab with a green flag and the word Paid or Received (depending on whether it was a bill or income)?

I look forward to your reply!

I don't recall to the day. it's been handfulo of months. Could likely be related to an update. I am only noticing it with reminders for tenants, when they download, they are automatically renamed although i do not have renaming rules set up for them, (they download as apple pay, Venmo, or cashapp). yes, i do not use automatic entry, i review each transaction that is downloaded. regarding the monthly bills and deposit tab, currently i only have one that is incorrect at this second, it it not showing up there.

Sorry for the delay. I also have some other issues with the tenants that i'd like to discuss as well once this issue is resolved.

    Thank you for your reply,

Does your account register have automatic entry turned on or off? You can check this by going to Tools>Account List, clicking the Edit button next to the account, then going to the Online Services tab.

    Thank you!

    Thank you for your reply,

Since automatic entry is off, the transactions should download into the section beneath your register. Does rejecting the match before you accept the transaction prevent the reminder from vanishing?

To reject a match, you can follow these directions from this article on handling downloaded transactions:

    • For transactions matched in error:
      • If the selected transaction should not match any other transaction but is Matched, click the Edit button and then choose Make New. Quicken changes the transaction's status to New.
      • If the selected transaction may match another transaction, click the Edit button and then choose Unmatch. Quicken attempts to match the transaction again. If no transactions are close enough, Quicken changes the transaction's status to New.

    Thank you!

No, rejecting the match has no effect on the reminder. The reminder is gone as soon as the downloaded transaction appears below the register. i have tried to un match and revert back to original but the reminder is still gone.

Do you have Pending Transactions enabled for the problem account?
