investment account balance differs from actual amount
Folks,
I have an investment account which, in the listing of accounts shown vertically on the left side of the screen, is shown valued at a few thousand dollars less than it's actual value. When I click on that account and show the account holdings, it shows the holdings correctly and the total is correct, differing from what is shown on the left-side listing. The other four accounts in the portfolio show correctly on both sides—individually, and as part of the portfolio. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this? Thank you.

Are there any future-dated txn in that account? In the Account Bar, have you chosen to display "Current Balance" or "Ending Balance", via right-clicking anywhere in that Bar.
When you display the Portfolio, which value is shown for the account?
And, are you actually running Q2017, as shown after your user name? Since you can no longer download into that product, how are you maintaining the security quotes?

Am I in the wrong Forum? I'm running Classic Deluxe R59.18. (Thanks for the heads-up about my out-of-date profile . . . )
I don't know what you mean by "txn in that account".
All accounts are Show Ending Balance.
Thanks.

txn = transactions.
The Account Bar can be set to show either the current (today's) balance or the ending balance by clicking on the gear at the top right of the bar. The Holdings view normally shows the current balance.
If you have the Accounts Bar set to Ending balance and there are any future-dated transactions, the balances will not agree.

Thanks. There are no future-dated transactions showing.

Have you also checked the Price History for the securities held in this account. A future-dated Price Quote for one or more securities may cause this issue …

The Price History for all the account's holdings shows price for either yesterday or today.

Try backing up your data file, then go to the problem account and hit Ctrl-Z to recalculate your investing transactions.
If that does not help, go to File > Validate and Repair File, select Validate file and click OK.

Validation worked like a charm. None of the odds and ends listed in the report seemed linked to the account in question, but it now reads correctly nevertheless. Thanks.
