Divx entry shows as a negative in red

Hello,

Ver R59.18

If been reinvesting cap gains and dividends into a stock mutual fund for years. The action field is usually -

ReinLg

ReinDiv….etc.

Last year I took the cash for the first time.

Just wondering why the entry is in red on the DivX and not CGLongX?

Thanks

Tom

It is red because the cash from the dividend was transferred from this account to another account.

"Last year I took the cash for the first time."

I assume what you are saying here is that you stopped reinvesting dividends and, instead, requested that the cash dividend be paid into a connected checking account.

"Just wondering why the entry is in red on the DivX and not CGLongX?"

If my assumption is correct then you don't have any sort of capital gain here, you're simply taking the dividend payment out of the Account. At least, that is what that "DivX" action is saying.

Now if what happened is that the underlying security is a mutual fund and made a distribution of long term capital gains in cash to you instead of being reinvested, then I would expect to see the CGLongX action employed here.

    What is the actual situation?

    Thanks Jim.

    You said -

"It is red because the cash from the dividend was transferred from this account to another account."

But I also transferred the CGLongX ( Long Cap Gain) and that one is not a negative red.

Did you see the pic I attached in my 1st message?

    Thoughts?

I can't explain why the capital gain is black and not red.

If you go to the other account, do both transactions show as XIn and black?

Hi Jim sorry for the late response. Yes the money market fund that received both transaction deposits are in black. It's okay, I just thought it was a simple solution. I mean the balances are correct so no worries
