RE: ONGOING 10/10/24 Unable to launch Quicken in Quicken for Windows - BindContent application error

Is there a current update on this issue? It has been a month since the last update post. I am currently dead in the water for both my rental property business and personal finances, as I had to get a new computer and lost all the information I had on my hard drive. I am looking to restore my saved Quicken data from the cloud. I am able to load the program I subscribe to, Quicken Classic Business and Personal, if I answer "no" to the question "Do I want the Bind content application to make changes to my device". If I answer "yes" to that prompt it spontaneously closes the Quicken program. I spoke to a customer service rep on 11/8/24 and was advised not to attempt to restore my data until this issue is resolved.

Also, is this problem occuring across the board for all other Quicken products? I currently run my product on a Mac using Parallels to be able to run Windows virtually on my Mac because I have been told multiple times the Quicken product for Mac does not support the rental property feature. If other Quicken products are functioning correctly I may consider changing products to be able to run on a PC rather than a Mac.

Please advise. Also of note, I and all other affected users are currently paying for a product we cannot use. Will there be refunds issued to adjust for the months paid while the Quicken product is unavailable?

    Hello @bbwatkin,

Unfortunately, we do not have any further updates on the BindContent application error at this time. If you haven't already done so, I recommend bookmarking the Community Alert, since any updates, once available, will be posted there. If you would like to contribute to the investigation of this issue, then please go to Help>Report a Problem in your Quicken program (You can do this by clicking No when the BindContent error comes up. You should then have the File and Help menu options in your Quicken program). In the subject line, please put "CTP-11030". In the description of the issue, please provide the following information:

    1. The Windows and Mac build you are using.
    2. Note any recent updates to the Parallels program.
    3. Note any recent updates to your Windows or Mac OS.

Once that is done, please click Send to Quicken. Note - You will not receive a response when you send a problem report. These reports are reviewed daily to track multiple reports of the same trending issues and/or for troubleshooting/escalation purposes.

The BindContent application error is happening only when running Quicken for Windows in Parallels. If you run Quicken for Windows on a PC without using Parallels, you should not see this error. You also should not see this error in Quicken for Mac, but as you noted, Quicken for Mac does not have the rental module that Quicken for Windows does. Your Quicken subscription allows you to install on both Windows and Mac computers.

You mentioned that you're are wanting to restore your saved Quicken data from the cloud. Could you please clarify? Which cloud service are you using?

If you are able to copy the saved file from your cloud service to your computer's local hard drive, then you should be able to restore it in your Quicken. I'm encountering the BindContent issue in my Quicken also, and I tested restoring a backup file. When the BindContent error comes up, click No, then in the Quicken program, go to File>Open Quicken File, and navigate to where the file you want to open is. Warning - If you sync your data to the Quicken Cloud, restoring a backup may cause the information in the cloud for that file to be overwritten by the older data in the newly restored backup file.

In regard to your final question, that is not something we can assist with through this channel. I recommend contacting Quicken Support directly. The Quicken Support phone number can be found through this link here. Phone support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, Monday through Friday.

    I hope this helps!

  • You asked what cloud service I use to save my data. I have been using iCloud not the quicken cloud. Also, on the first post I read from September 27 it states the BindContent Application error was happening for the regular windows product as well as when run on a Mac with Parallels. Has that aspect been resolved?

I am also battling the BindContent application not installing and hoping for a solution soon. In the meantime, I am selecting "No" and using that work around. I have a new Mac mini M4Pro, running Parallels (20) and Windows 11 Pro (ARM version).

Oops, I forgot to add, I did complete the "Help-Report a Problem" in the Quicken program.

Thank you for your reply @bbwatkin,

When I review the alerts for the issue, I do not see any mention of the issue existing outside of running Quicken for Windows on Parallels. I'm able to use Quicken on my Windows 11 PC without seeing the BindContent application error.

    Thank you!

Found a possible solution. This appears to work so far. I renamed "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\BindContent.exe" to "x BindContent.exe".

I'm have the same issue with BindContent Application using Parallels (Desktop 20 for MAC Pro Edition Version 20.1.2 (55742) on a MacBook Pro 14" (Nov 2023, Chip Apple M3 Max, Memore 128 GB, Sequoia 15.1.1). I'm running Windows 11 in the Parallels environment.

When starting quicken I receive a popup (see attachment)

By clicking 'Yes', Quicken does not start
By clicking 'No', You get the menu bar and can then go to File Open and the quicken file will open

nx37602, A couple of days ago, Quicken Support posted the following:

    UPDATE 11/29/24

A fix has been implemented in R60, which is coming soon. Once the update is available, please update your Quicken. If you are not able to open your Quicken program to check for updates, you can use the article linked below (Current patch available for download is R60.14):
