To track investment accounts, you need Deluxe or higher. Higher just gets you more reporting and whizbang features, but are not needed to track investments.
You need to contact support at Quicken Support for help with the pricing.

@kathylakeberg - Starter does not support managing/tracking investments. Any of the other editions (Deluxe, Premier, Business & Personal) will track/manage investments. Many people are happy with Deluxe for basic tracking/managing of investment accounts and data but others (like me) prefer Premier because of some of the added investment tools/reports and Tax Reports that are available. If you have not already done so, you can review the features comparison chart at .
When I checked the Quicken.com site for plans pricing I did not see a 67% discount offer for Quicken Classic (which is the desktop software you currently have). I did see a 67% discount for Quicken Simplifi which is a totally different financial planning program that is 100% online (Cloud-based) and is not compatible with Quicken Classic. You cannot import your Starter data into it. The main benefit of Simplifi, IMO, is that you don't install an app on your computer and instead access it via any Internet browser. It is not as full featured as Quicken Classic is but I do believe it offers some basic investments tracking.
Since you seem to be interested in upgrading your Quicken Classic Starter to either Deluxe or Premier you should note that most of the promotional price offers on Quicken.com are for new subscribers. Quicken.com is not very transparent about this but the offers are footnoted and you need to scroll to the very bottom of the web page where you will see a footnote similar to this this:
Since you are already a subscriber you will not get those "new memberships" discounts.
Once in a while (not very often) Quicken will offer discounts for existing subscribers but I can't remember the last time I saw one.
You could try contacting Quicken Support to see if they might be willing to offer you a discount of some sort. I understand that sometimes they will do that but you will need to contact them via Chat or Phone at
.What many people do is search the internet for legitimate retailers (such as Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, NewEgg, OfficeDepot, Costco, Sam's Club, etc.) who sell Quicken subscriptions. They are much more likely to offer nice discounts. Just make sure to carefully look at the product description and the picture of the box in the listing to confirm that it is not promo pricing for new subscribers. If it says nothing about new subscribers then you will be able to use it to upgrade from your Starter.
Note that what most of these online retailers will do is to simply provide you with the activation code which you can then enter into your Starter installation (Help > Manage Your Subscription > Enter Activation Code). Alternatively, you can log in to your Quicken.com online account and enter the code there. If you have time remaining on your Starter subscription it will be prorated and added onto the end of your new upgraded 12 months subscription.
FYI: There is no new software that needs to be downloaded. There is only 1 Quicken Classic software and your subscription determines which features are enabled so all you need is the activation code to complete the upgrade. So, the Quicken Classic software you have installed will work with any upgrade that you purchase.
If after entering the activation code your Starter installation does not reflect the upgrade, sign out of Quicken and then log back into Quicken: (Edit > Preferences > Quicken ID & Cloud Accounts > Sign In As a Different User > follow the prompts to sign out > when prompted, log back in using your current Quicken ID and PW). This will refresh your installation and you will then see the edition you upgraded to.

UPDATE: I now see the "Black Friday" sale notice for 67% off at the top of the webpage on Quicken.com. Here is a picture of it.:
Two things of note:
- "….UP TO 67% OFF": It does not say all Quicken products are 67% off. The only Quicken product that I see has any kind of discount at all is Quicken Simplifi. The prices for all Quicken Classic editions are shown as being full price.
- The bottom of the webpage shows the exact same footnote that I included in my previous post stating that the discount applies to new membership subscribers.
BTW, NewEgg.com's Black Friday sale is currently offering Quicken Classic Deluxe activation code (not restricted to new subscribers) for $36.99 after using the promo code mentioned on their website in the product listing. They also are offering Quicken Classic Premier (unrestricted) for $46.99 after using a different promo code mentioned on their website in the product listing. I've been buying from NewEgg for many years. They are a solid, reliable and trustworthy online retailer.
