Assigning an account to a business name for Primary Use (feedback, and a bug?).

I have feedback about the Learning Center about how to assign accounts to a business, for "Primary Use", and a report of what seems to be a bug when creating a transaction in that account's register.

In: Help > Learning Center > Manage Business > Getting started is easy …

… it states: "2 Assign accounts … In the account settings, choose your business as the primary use for your account."

Perhaps: "In the account settings" is meant to be: "In the account's settings"; otherwise, perhaps: "In the Account Settings…" (strike "the").

Moreover, it should instead read something like: "Right click a business account and choose "Account Settings…" .

In step 1, we were the Manage Business section, which has business information, but is not where you find what is shown in step 2; and how to get to Account Settings is not explained.

I have a business checking account under the "Business" heading in the left pane. When I go to: "Account Settings", my business account is set for: "Primary Use", but when I create a transaction in that account, the BUSINESS field is not populated with the business account. It remains blank, and I have to manually choose the business name. The point of assigning an account to a business name as "Primary Use" is so that business name populates the "BUSINESS" field.

I noticed this today. I haven't started using Quicken for 'real' business yet, and have no experience of the BUSINESS field ever being properly populated with the "Primary Use" business account. I replicated the problem with another: "Primary Use" business account's register.

    Hello @bob2021,

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and providing details as well as the steps you took to replicate this issue. While I was not able to replicate it internally, I will be forwarding this issue to the proper channels to have this further investigated.

I can see you have already submitted a problem report via to Help > Report a problem within your Quicken program with log files and screenshots attached. Thank you for doing so as these will help to contribute to the investigation. It would also aid the investigation if you could submit a sanitized file (also via Help > Report a problem). A sanitized file is a data file that removes personally identifiable information so you can comfortably share this file with the Quicken team.

While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue.

    Thank you!

    Anja,

I will file a report later when I have time.

So I fully understand, after assigning an account as Primary Use for a business, when you created a new transaction, was the BUSINESS field auto populated with the business name?

I didn't mention it (but will when I file a bug report), and I doubt it has any bearing, but in my testing, I had (already) changed the default name from "My Business" to the actual name of my business. (The business name starts with a number, followed by ASCII letters and spaces—nothing beyond that like symbols, or diacriticals, etc.).

    Hello @bob2021,

I apologize for the delay as I am just now seeing that you responded to me.

But yes, that is correct. After I assigned the account as Primary Use for a business and then created a new transaction, the Business field auto-populated the name of the business immediately after I entered the category name which looked like this (see below).

As for the additional details about having changed the name of the business, I will get those details added to the ticket.

    Thank you!
