Can there be a setting added to include the memo field when hovering over a split transaction in the transactions register? (screen shot included)

When I hover over a split transaction in the All Transactions window I am seeing all lines of the split. As far as I know that's the way it works "out of the box" as I've never made any changes that I remember on this screen by clicking the "Action" icon (gearwheel). If you haven't already you might try playing around with the options presented there to see if some setting is affecting your ability to see splits.

Doesn't matter which banking register you have selected, the hover-popup window never shows the Memo field of a Split line. You would have to open up the Split Transaction dialog (green checkmark) to be able to see the split line Memo text.

I thought there was an existing Idea about adding the Memo field to the Split hover-popup, but I don't seem to be able to find it while briefly searching the Community.
Maybe we need to create a new Idea discussion for adding Memo and optionally Tags to the hover-popup.

    @UKR

@jtgostars was in the "All Transactions" window, not any particular Account Register.

In that window I do see the splits while hovering

I just haven't used that feature very much and don't remember ever messing with the display options here, but I do get the splits using either a 1-line or 2-line display. Looking at all the options I don't see anything that might affect how splits are displayed in this screen.

    That's what I'm saying, @Tom Young
There isn't anything configurable to make the popup display show Memo and/or Tags. But, IMHO, there should be. And I thought there already was an Idea on the books (in the Community) about adding that feature, but I can't find it …

I see the Tag field in the hover-split, just as in the screen shot in the OP.

Yes, but maybe I need to explain better …
Not everybody uses Tags. Therefore, IMHO, having Tags in the popup can be a waste of space and should be made optional: Only when the account you're looking at displays the Tags column, show Tags in the popup. This is the same logic as used when editing the Split Transaction dialog.

So, if the register view is shown

    • with Tags: Category | Tag | Memo | Amount
    • without Tags: Category | Memo | Amount

    Clear?

I'm one of those that rarely uses tags…mostly just to distinguish auto expenses between my 2 SUVs. But I have Memos for a lot of my transactions. So, for me, I would find value in being able to preview Category | Memo | Amount or Category | Tag | Memo | Amount when hovering the cursor over split categories.

I've requested that this thread be turned into a Product Idea. I know I would vote for it and I think it will get the approval of many others.

@jtgostars - A Moderator changed your question post into the Product Idea. I hope you don't mind, but I edited your post slightly changing it from an inquiry question into a request for a product improvement. If you disagree with my doing that or how I've worded it, please edit it yourself or let me know and I'll revert it or modify it as you wish. Here is what you originally posted: "Is there a setting to include the memo field when hovering over a split transaction in the transactions register? (screen shot included)".

I personally do not care if showing the Memo is a setting feature or if the Quicken Development Team simply expands the cursor hover view to include the Memo field. I'd be OK with either or.

Also, I just cast my vote for it because I really like this idea.

This is an "It would be nice" request, but pretty trivial. You want to see the Memo fields? Just open the split and there they are. It's just a click away.

I understand that's an option but my use case is this; I go to All Transactions and set a filter. The results include multiple (10-15) splits. If I understand your suggestion I would need to click "through" on each of those to view the memo for each and then go back to the original filtered list to select the next split transaction. That is a lot of back and forth when by simply adding the memo field to the hover popup (functionality that already exists for category|tag|amount) on a split transaction there would be no back and forth I could simply stay in the transactions window and hover over any one or all split transactions to see the memo. I use memo field extensive to individualize a transaction as opposed to tags which I hard ever use as it is more of a type of sub category.

One person's "trivial" is another person's "elimination of a pain-in-the-you-know-what". From what I see, most of the Product Ideas can be viewed by some as "trivial" while others view them as "need to have". I generally make my decision on where each Product Idea falls on this matter based upon my perception of whether or not it either fixes an issue, it fills a gap in functionality or how much time it will save users.

This Product Idea clearly does not fix any issue and it really does not address a functionality gap but it can be quite a time saver for those who use split categories a lot. I use split categories a lot and know how frustrating it can be to have to always open the split category and then to close it to find what I'm looking for. So, especially when having to review multiple transactions to find what I'm looking for, for me this would be a really nice thing to implement. So, no, IMO this is not critical or a must-have but it is far from being "trivial".

@jtgostars Now that I understand your use case, I can see why you want this feature. Having to click in and out of each split would be tiresome.
